but gems that lay unfound, forgotten, abandoned, or unclaimed, while rare, do exist. It is unknown how it happens but these forgotten gems somehow fuse with the first dragon they come in contact with creating a Gemscape dragon. This process is highly painful for the dragon because for a short time the gems presence in the dragons mind takes over. For most Gemscape dragons the dragon's conscience returns to its body after a day or two, but for a few the dragon dies. That is why it is very dangerous but many dragons still try to search from those special gems that hold the power to make then beautiful."
