Biography
Spice
The clan’s gardens grow a wide variety of plants which require a wide variety of growing conditions. Amount of sunshine, amount of water, quality of sunshine and water…And soil. Soil, the very homebed a plant grows in. Spice is the dragon in the gardens who takes care of all of the plants’ soil needs. However, his main area of expertise is as a soil quality inspector. While Spice does do tasks such as stirring up soil and researching how much soil a new plant being introduced requires, mostly, he takes samples of the soil to inspect.
Spice takes this job very seriously. He believes that one bad sod spoils the bunch, and in order to optimize output and quality, the soil must be in its peak shape. He takes samples, and takes notes about them — origin, quality, richness, moisture, nutrients, anything notable about it. In addition to taking samples, Spice makes efforts to enrich the soil and help it reach its full potential. He manages the clan’s compost bins and introduces the compost to the soil, and raises worms to release into soil that needs a little extra help.
Some dragons think Spice’s intense interest in soil is a strange fixation, but Spice seems himself as noble and valiant. He thinks the dirt is the most ignored part of the growth process, and seeks to remedy that by spreading awareness as to how important the soil quality is to a plant’s growth. However, he has met pushback from elder dragons who point out that the clan’s gardens were fine even before Spice came along to regulate the soil. Unfortunately, Spice has no samples from this time as evidence to argue about it, and is forced to keep his mouth shut.
