BIOGRAPHY

Hatched under the auspicious decennial of her own parents' hatching left Fiora imbued with an especially bright sliver of the Royal Fire, and a love of art.

As a youngling she was sent to study in the incomparable gardens of her parents' clanmate Flora. While she greatly honed her technical skill there as she'd intended, it was through gardening, cooking, and talks over shared tea during her stay with the soft-spoken and wise garden-keeper that she realized all of these things were art. She came to understand the wonder of art as something living, as connection, as nourishment for the soul for both the creator and the audience - a treasured lesson she has carried with her since. Fiora still expresses her magic through the creative arts - both traditional, horticultural and culinary.

When it came time for her to strike out on her own, to seek her Guardian's Charge and choose her own name, she chose one in honor of her dear friend. As a parting gift, she left Flora with a portrait full of plants and tea and love, and has treasured always the pair of cups Flora gifted her in turn, that Fiora might be ever prepared to share many more cups of tea with friends both new and old.

Fiora struck out into the world, drawn -- as so many Guardians are -- by the search for her own Charge, though her heart was conflicted. All her young life she had understood her connection to the oldest lore of the world, the responsibility she carried as a direct descendant of the Firstborn - to champion the legacy of the those earliest days in Sornieth. But all her time with Flora had only cemented her love for the world Sornieth was now... each new flower, each new recipe, each fresh and wonderous panorama over each new hill. Though her wise friend of the garden had not seemed worried, Fiora's joy in traveling was tempered, feeling always that missing Something. That call deep within for something more, a clear purpose to bend her skills towards, something... to Protect. Out there somewhere was someone or something precious to her heart, waiting for her to find it. And if, when it came, it was at the cost of the life of discovery she now loved...she could only hope that it would be worth it in the end.

Until one day -- one very particular, liminal day, when the barrier between what is and is not waned extra thin -- Fiora came upon something else new; a hole in reality, freshly torn, a passage beyond the Veil, to the waters of the Far Shore. And so faint as to hardly be made out, an Imperial, small and thin, struggling in the distance to tow something from the waters, something apparently so precious that he refused to relinquish it, even as the current slowly drug him back and away by inches.

Never before had an action felt so natural as when Fiora leapt through the rift to clasp the Imperial's claw, adding her strength to his to tow him and his charge from the waters. Even so, with all her might and magic -- her flame-bright bond to Sornieth from its very roots to its present, the effort to wrench free of the mist and mire of death to reach the bright and living world once more was a perilously near thing. Fiora and the strange dragon collapsed into the world of green grass and blue sky as the rift twisted to nothing behind them...and only then did Fiora finally see what it was the imperial had fought so hard to save...two eggs, resting between them.

That day, when Fiora met the Imperial Valerian, first of the Veilborn, descendant of Naomi, she found both a dear friend, and her Charge. A quest to rescue the ancient, neverborn souls stranded beyond the veil in the moment of Naomi's ascension. Her knowledge of the oldest of magics was turned to stabilizing his spells, and the unmatched fire of a child of the Firstborn leant to help lead those stranded ancient souls into a new life in the living breathing Sornieth of today that she holds so dear.
