Biography

"To be born is to have a contract written in blood, the clauses dictated by the untold generations before you. A trillion factors, making each existence unique. To be beautiful or revolting. To be powerful or nothing. To last forever, or to die out not a week from hatching. Every life, be they dragon, beast, or plant, is to be counted as a thread amidst the infinite tapestry of existence. I, Thurial, am but one thread. A cursed thread, that is stained death-black from the actions of my ancestors. I, Thurial, am a cutter of threads.” - Excerpt from Thurial’s personal journal. The first thing one notices about Thurial is her eyes. Shadow eyes, on a Witchborne. The stigma that came from it was stifling. Even within her new Clan, there were those who gave her a wide berth. Not that it was undeserved, but that doesn’t mean much when hatchlings run at your subtlest movement. She tried once to wear a blindfold to remedy the problem. It made it worse. The darkness is Thurial’s truest ally, and she sorely misses it in the Sunbeam Ruins. Most mercifully, the Lair is located within the Hewn City, the only place in the Sunbeam Ruins with usable darkness nearby. This only adds to her desire to remain in the Lair at all times. The Clan was kind enough to create for her a windowless wooden hut near the nests, where she can most efficiently guard the hatchlings. She spends most of her time away from the Lair, on the outskirts. One benefit is the large gardens the Lair boasts, permitting her to refine her already gifted horticultural and botanist abilities. Her healing potions are lauded among Lumenstar society, Thurial never failing to make a potion that lives up to her reputation, even if she tries. While her poisons are intended for the Child-Eaters she seeks out, they are mostly spent on invasive species or infestations. The Clan is thankful, but Thurial feels unfulfilled each time. All Pearlcatchers value their pearls above everything else, but Thurial nigh worships it. In the first few days of her living with the Lumenstar Clan, she lay coiled around it in a dark corner, paranoia flowing through her like blood and water. Indeed, this is what inspired the Clan to build her a hut. She will often clutch the pearl so intensely that she bruises herself, sometimes requiring medical attention that she complicates still by refusing to put the pearl down. Upon her pearl is adhered a slightly faded Tarot Card, the Knight of Swords. Thurial will always hold the pearl in a way so that the card will always appear reversed, and becomes distraught when it is upright. In this state, the card means impatience, impulsiveness, a lack of direction, and disorganization. This is how the card was drawn when she hatched, and it embodies how she lives now. Whether she was always destined to such behavior, or if she chooses it to obey the fate the card foretold, is unknown. If you have business with Thurial, it would be best to slip a note under the door of her hut. Sleep in the guest room of Lumenstar’s Lair for a night, and your requested potion will appear outside her hut. If you have come for a social visit, it is advised you reconsider. |
Witchborne dragons hatched under the Moon of Flowers are skilled with herbology, making them skillful potion brewers. Be it a remedy for toothache or a poison that slowly stops the heart so that it is believed that the victim died in their sleep. These are the dragons many would tread with care around, even if most Witchborne are trained in potion-brewing. Dragons born under the Moon of Flowers are the epitomes of this deadly yet essential art, as it is their uncanny ability to be able to know without measuring just the right amount of an ingredient needed, be it for the preservation of life or the alternative.

Obscurus Witchborne are often avoided as they are known to be easily manipulated by the Shade, hence the heavy care and scrutiny taken in rearing these Witchbornes, if ever there are. Dragons born under this element are gifted in the following:
