Name meaning: Old French verb esmer, meaing "to esteem" or "to love."

Esme didn't really want to go, truly. It isn't the same anxiety as her mother's, nor any attachment to the land she grew up in. It's that she's used to all the bright chaos of her younger siblings, and she feels like it would be - lonely, anywhere else. What if there are no hatchlings wherever she ends up? All she's good at is looking out for little dragons who don't know enough to look out for themselves.

But all her baby siblings are going to go out there, someday, and someone has to make the world safe enough for them first.

Esme had a talent for metalworking, which she used to create trinkets for her loved ones. She'd made pendants and toys for all of her siblings before leaving. Upon finding [NAME], the dragon who would become her life partner, she crafted a locket within which she placed a photo of them together. She knew that there was something special about them - they radiated love and warmth. She felt safe when she was with them. For the first time she thought not of protecting her younger siblings, but of how she would protect her own children. She wanted to start a family with them.

Together they nested a clutch of # eggs.
