Biography

A strange figure seen spectating the dragons, said to hover over like a spectre with deep interest. Their mutters analyze the fitness of the new arrivals, and those who look at the mutant spectator are met with a gleeful cackle before the strange creature slips away. Some have said that an Aberration lives in the area with a similar look; but those who find the night spectator describe a bizarre, alien form instead.

To Vernax, the clean shapes and simple bodies of the new dragons are fascinatingly grotesque. Too smooth, too clean; unfit for the depths they've arrived at, and yet their magic enables their survival. It's so utterly fascinating and bizarre to her.
That's fine, though; she knows that they are just as bizarre and fascinating, as are all of her subjects. From the glowing larvae to the crooked creatures that creep above the mushrooms, from the lichens to the massive mushrooms, all the subterranean life that looks so bizarre to a surface dweller but is so fitting in the cavernous domain of Seastringer. This is her stomping ground, and this is where she thrives.
Mother Vernax is what the others nickname her to be. They find it a little funny, really. After all, she doesn't really understand typical biology, but she likes to use it and the feminine words as a title, so it sticks. They don't care, one way or another; the worms and the beasts of the cavern don't care, either.
She likes to spectate the new life, and well, why wouldn't they?
As long as they can blend and not overtake, Vernax is happy to welcome new oddities under her wings.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • The other minor diety alongside Crystalhide inside of Seastringer's domain.
  • Vernax mostly spectates, but does like to interact sparingly. The odd Aberration of the caves is a fascinating creature, and they wouldn't want to be known any other way.
  • Rippletide has come to them multiple times, hoping to understand the wildlife better. This makes sense, except it's wildly hilarious to Vernax, due to the fact that Rippletide has no idea that the individual they're talking to is the literal deity of the flora and fauna they harvest. You'd hope Vernax knew that info, right?
  • Their true form is a sleek, two-headed creature with an elongated body and alien features, too-long limbs with odd joints and other such things. They look like something you'd find in the deep ocean, if the deep ocean was land-based. They think the Aberration is the closest fit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

There's something really funny to me about a Nature (minor) deity who takes on the form of a Plague ancient dragon. It's also fitting. Vernax's stuff is weird, man
