Biography

An enigmatic entity who lives within the Crystalcrags, leaping among the bioluminescent flora and alien wildlife. They look a little too resemblant to an Obelisk, despite their insistence that they don't even know what that is. They seem more than a little interested in the twins, though, saying that they share a familiar energy.

Mistseeker's egg was left alone a little too long; tucked into a corner of earthen den. Parents? Who knows, they never hatched to see them. It's unknown if they were abandoned intentionally, or if their placement was unlucky. But one day sitting alone, the Stars Below shifted, and their egg slipped clean through and entered a new ether.
Mistseeker's little egg fell through the stars, and landed cleanly into a much larger entity's claws. This divinity; the Starcaller; decided they simply couldn't abandon the poor thing to fend for itself alone here, and treated the young hatchling as though they were their own child. It was happy circumstance that their scales happened to mirror the shimmering stars of the Astral Expanse, few beings questioned the strange little dragon being cared for under the god's claw. Many assumed they had made them; gotten bored one day and decided to make a new and interesting shape. Mistseeker themself began to believe it; Starcaller had never seen a reason to explain their form, and had figured the grief would lessen if they didn't realize they'd fallen from a family that might have, genuinely, cared for them. The explanation was enough; the entities of this world were already in a plethora of shapes and sizes, so one more oddity didn't set anything amiss.
It was only after the Rippleshard Clan made their residence deep in the Crystalcrags that they ever thought to question it.
Starcaller had taken interest; Mistseeker knew that they'd given gifts before in brief meetings, gifts to deter others from entry and sate curiosity until the Stars shifted anew. But never had they seen the fruit of those gifts; not until now, with those strange twins.
Sykalo and Nightsong.
It was their deity-parent's interest that caused Mistseeker to peer closer themself. They'd asked for permission, and Starcaller figured it'd be easier to negotiate with Seastringer if it was not they who entered, but a smaller and less powerful ambassador of sorts, to explain the whole of the situation. Many of the deities of Otherside's surface were greedy; they expected Seastringer's resistance, and let Mistseeker act as their eyes and mouth to learn more about what their young gifted had learned, until Seastringer felt less at odds with them.
But in this, they learned facts they found... troubling.
These dragons recognized them. They made comments about their species, but in a way that was... understandable?
As though there was something like them out there, where they came from...

Where the cracks in the sky led.

They've never been brave enough to ask Starcaller directly, perhaps because they're afraid of the answer.
They don't know which is worse:
That they were crafted in these dragons' image intentionally, perhaps always doomed to be nothing more than an ambassador for power, that perhaps Starcaller wasn't as good as they seemed...

Or that they came from there, and simply couldn't remember it, or perhaps were taken away too young.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • Mistseeker is far more comfortable with the abstract and loose reality of Otherside than they are with the concrete reality of Sornieth. It does, though, explain why they've always felt a bit more grounded than the entire world around them...
  • Mistseeker is essentially Starcaller's adopted child, and has the potential in Astral Magic to boot. They could plenty serve as a mentor to Sykalo and Nightsong, if they actually understood what things were easy and hard...
  • They don't genuinely believe Starcaller had bad intentions, and they don't genuinely believe that they were acquired with malintent. And, speaking outside of the character, they weren't! But it's certainly difficult to shake those feelings, the "what ifs" that haunt you while you sleep.
  • Talks occassionally with Deepscale, seeing as he's actually touched by the local deity and likely has some understanding of the place. They're not too close, though... They still don't know how to feel.
  • Has made a friend in Abyssal. Although initially they butted heads, what started as an attempt to pry mellowed out into a genuine friendship, and Mistseeker has probably shared a bit... too much, all things considered, but he's guarded the secrets well.
There MIGHT be a tad bit of homosexuality in this corner. I am unsure yet though. I am putting notes down for future me to decide <3
