Hydnellum is a fledgling taken in by Sōlis' Gaoler trio, after being found by Rowan during a hunting trip in the Scarred Wasteland. She was found nestled within fungi, feasting on decaying wood, and seemingly abandoned, considering her sorry state. She quickly became healthy thanks to the efforts of the trio, and now happily lives alongside them on the farm.

Similar to the fungi she shares her name with, the bleeding tooth fungus*, ruby-red pinions seem to sprout from her body, with an almost liquid-like quality to them when they're fresh. They eventually solidify, but her fur is stained with blotches of red from the growths. It doesn't seem to harm her, and is just a mild inconvenience at worst. Hydnellum is perfectly healthy, and it isn't contagious, so she leads a relatively normal life for a fledgling. It's speculated that this condition is just a side effect of the energy from the Plague region, or perhaps the fungi she was found near... Though, there's still many uncertainties about her condition. The doctors and mages of Sōlis frequently check up on her to study this phenomenon.

Like any other dragon her age, she enjoys playing, adventuring and on occasion, wrestling with her friends. Being one of the biggest fledglings, she's been taught to control her strength to not hurt anyone during a playful tussle. She even likes to maintain a small hoard (much to her family's dismay), collecting any small object she finds interesting. As she's still very young, Hydnellum hasn't picked an Order of Gaoler society for her to be apart of. Considering her adoptive family consists of outcasts from other Gaolers, they stress to her that even if she never picks an order, they will still respect whatever path in life she may choose.
