Biography

Artemis
Runesmith of Silvershroud
she / they
Legends say that at a great storm’s center, past thunder and rain and hail, is a cave. Although uninteresting and unassuming at first glance, it has runes etched to every available space. Only by reading these runes can you enter, and that alone is no easy task—being words from an ancient civilization, the citizens of the earlier ages, only the highest scholars can understand their true meaning. One reads ‘riches.’ Another reads ‘doom.’
If you were to succeed in deciphering the runes, then congratulations—silver lies within the cave, coating its walls, dusting the air, making the floor shine. A beast of a dragon sits in the center—Artemis, Runesmith of Silvershroud. With shining gray and white scales, she blends in with the surroundings; and if you can manage to pass their test, you’ll be granted all the silver in the cave. A deceivingly simple task of creating your own rune to add to the outside of the cave awaits you, but beware—for the rune is only added if it fails to please Artemis, the lines and curves meaningless in her eyes, and the price for failure is death.
Yet in the end of the trial, with your rune appearing on the outer shell of the cave, you might just see a bit of regret in Artemis’s eyes. Maybe they, too, attempted the trial and succeeded, only to repeat the process…
