Glade

She'd never get used to how incredible the shift in size looked - even though she's seen it a thousand times.

Glade's massive head was heavy from the water trapped in her mane, possibly with a couple fish swimming around in it too. It wasn't her fault that they lived on such a beautiful body of water, and how she just HAD to swim in it! Even though she and Bug were docked and the water was shallow, she could dive down underneath and watch all the little fish swim away, chase them and laugh at how they glittered in the sun. Then laugh again from her own bubbles, and then go back up since she laughed all her air away...

But besides that, today was going perfectly. Bug was gone until noon, buying new seeds for the planters he kept on the deck of the boat, and as she climbed back onto the vessel Glade was careful to tiptoe through the pots so she wouldn't knock any overboard. Now that she knew how tasty those plants were, she didn't want to waste a single one. Squeezing inside the door was easier when she was wet, and as soon as her eyes slipped through the magic that created the space, a smile burst forth onto her muzzle without even trying.

The windows lining the back wall showed all the beauty of the hills that hid the small town Bug was in and played host to brilliant emerald pines. The lake was rippling from her rocking the boat, but it worked on settling while she worked on getting her shoulders through the doorway. The inside felt warm and she saw that Bug had left a fire going in their sitting area. It worried her at first- unattended fire? In their home? But she remembered how that morning she'd been complaining about how cold she always was with wet fur, and Bug (despite rolling her eyes and telling Glade to "just take a nap in the grass afterwards to dry") had left it there for her. awww... She listened! The dragon usually got to recognize the love that Bug had for her through what the cat did, instead of her words. She didn't like expressing herself through words; confessions made her nervous.

Glade's next glance as the rest of her slid into the doorway was checking the clock and seeing that she'd only killed 40 minutes with her little swim, and it was now 10:20 in the morning. Groaning, she flopped into the sitting area's entertainment pit, on top of the massive pile of pillows that acted as her bed half the time. Bug had asked her to please, please not follow after her today, but she didn't know how long she could keep that promise! Being apart made every second feel like an eternity

Ok, maybe one thing could distract her. As she rolled over onto her back to dry her belly by the fire, she saw the upside-down kitchen clean and waiting for her. By the time Bug came back, she would be hungry, right? And then eating together would mean TIME together!

She got up and shook to fluff out her fur before squeezing herself between the counter and the island, fetching ingredients from the fridge. Fish of course, butter, white wine, herbs, more home grown or whole made than not. This would be delicious

When Bug got back to the ship she was exhausted. Towns were a struggle for her nerves, since she always felt so small compared to everyone there. Next time I might even bring Glade along just to ride on top of... As she got close to her boat, she could smell it before anything; a strong herbal scent wafting out of the little chimney that linked to the stove, and thr smell of cooked fish between.

If there could only be one thing she loved about Glade (which of course, was impossible) it would be her cooking. Bug picked up her pace now; tired or not, a good fish lunch and a nap would do wonders, and since Glade probably missed her like crazy after those few hours she could definitely convince the massive dragon to cuddle with her as she napped.

A smile crossed the cat's muzzle. This was the life.
