........... PHANUEL
........... Weathered Grimoire

Ramiel was resting that night, calm as could be. The night was clear, the full moon shining bright overhead. Agar, his partner, took up most of the space in the little study, having shifted most of his books about so she could simply be by his side. It was rare for them to ever take a break with their respective studies, to rest weary eyes, but he knew what his older sister would be up to soon. She'd been going on for days about a batch of cursed puppies, and he knew he'd need all his strength to handle whatever Samhain threw his way. They'd agreed to a quiet evening, a glass of red perhaps, alongside a warm fire on such a cold winter night. They had each other for company, and to him that was more than enough.

He, however, seemed to have other plans. Or She, depending on who was asked. In either case, the cards were drawn and dealt, and the players in this new little game were blissfully unaware of what their thoughts of "cursed puppies" would bring into their lives. After all, it only took a thought to start Ramiel's own life. It was only a thought that led to the prestige Agar's mother held alongside her siblings. Thoughts have power, and tonight would be one to remember.

A pop. Just one, nothing to even blink an eye at if it weren't for the fact the two hadn't drifted off just yet. No possible sound of a snore, certainly not a remnant of their drinks, and the fire had started to die some time ago. It was almost like a miracle, but that couldn't be right. Ramiel hadn't called for anything, nor had Agar wanted for more tonight. So what could cause such a noise?

It was the fifth pop that got them to finally look up. Or well, to actually realize something big had happened. It was Ramiel's muffled scree that caught Agar's attention, her head turning to peer down at her companion in what swiftly became shock. She'd expected a book pile, perhaps, or her own tail managing to bury him in fluff. Perhaps his cup could've spilled, causing mild outrage at the offensive drink and the stain it'd dare to leave behind.

She did not expect to see four little spirals, barely managing their own little squeaks of protest as a large imperial hatchling finally realized he existed. It seemed their calm night had been interrupted after all.

Untitled_design_14.png The first was a starry little thing, dark as pitch with flecks of light winking in and out along their little body. Some seemed to swim in the form of runes, ever changing. Their eyes never did leave the dying fire in the fireplace, causing their father to name them after the light itself. Flauros seemed fine with the name; They even seemed to manage to ignore their siblings as they began with their own little bouts of chaos. It seemed the name fit the first-made well.

The second took offense to her sibling's silence. The eyes locked on the flames, that dark hide so reminiscent of the fiery spheres known as stars; All pointed to trouble in her mind, and she would have none of it. She began to snap at the eldest, to try and get them to turn away and focus instead on what she assumed were her parents. How could they focus on something so destructive when they'd only just begun to exist?! Ramiel knew what to name her as soon as he heard her voice, his mind flickering back to the memory of a name mentioned in passing between his fathers. Phanuel hardly took notice as she continued her little tirade against the fiery first-made.

The third was a quiet thing, listening as their sibling began to question why one was so silent by the fireside. Ramiel thought they would be calmer, like the first. Then the one spiral yang didn't have a mouth. Agar herself couldn't hold back a little laugh as the other yin began snapping back at their pale sibling, little wings flaring. They didn't quite know how where this one got some of their ideas from, but they seemed to be quite passionate about their beliefs. Ramiel swiftly named them after one he'd read of that reminded him of this little yin. Murmur seemed to take offense, if only because they were most certainly not murmuring: an oversight their parents wouldn't soon forget.

The fourth could only watch, eyes wide as their siblings began to squabble. They could see things growing out of hand, or perhaps talon. It didn't seem as if they were listening, however. Their ears were swiveled to face the window, the whistling wind outside. It almost looked as though they could hear something there, whispering to them. When Ramiel asked them about it, they murmured softly "It's nothing important." Their sibling's outrage at what they saw to be a lie led Ramiel to name them Caim, after one who listened to the wind, yet rarely spoke truly of what they heard. They seemed to focused on the noise outside to even notice their own name.

The last brought it all to an end. A simple scree was apparently all it took. Even the wind seemed to still as all four siblings turned to the youngest. They thought he was upset with them at first. After all, they just popped into existence, and the first thing they did was squabble! And yet, the not-so-little one was looking at his father, still pinned under all five beings, clearly not as okay as he had been when they didn't exist just yet. The youngest moved the other four away, freeing their father with one simple statement. "We're sorry." It was Agar who named the youngest, moved by the line she'd become bound to. Little Hasdiel, bringer of mercy, had finally brought an end to the fighting. The youngest only wished for the best, it seemed; even the return of his sister's mouth seemed to be out of goodwill.

Their father could only sigh as the five siblings finally settled down, pondering their existence together. It was enough to occupy them for the rest of the night, or so he hoped. Now all he needed to do was figure out what to do with them.

It seemed he needed to write to his parents after all.
