The child of an angel and a demon, this creature is previously unheard of, unseen, and unimagined. It's quite an ineffable thing, really...

tumblr_otqnrp7EG71v8lm95o2_r1_100.gif The name Samhain is a homage to this dragons birth date - October 31st. Samhain is a pagan religious festival originating from an ancient Celtic spiritual tradition.

Lore Notes:
  • Tried to follow all the books their calmer father read to them when they were young (varying degrees of success; whether or not that was a good thing is debatable at best)
  • Grew bored and restless as time went on (as all young drakes tend to do)
  • Drawn to their other father and his own tricky ways
  • Found a love of plants (much to both their fathers' chagrin)
  • Wound up confounding their parents by being so snappish at the plants, they'd bloom
  • Even if they weren't meant to bloom
  • At all
  • Eventually went off to deliver their father's "failures" to neighbors (he told them not to tell the other plants that was actually what happened to them, and they promised not to breath a word)
  • Encountered gossip about some odd dragons in the Starfall Isles
  • Heard of a massive garden there and knew they had to go
  • Thought they'd need to beg, but their sister had already left (and their dads were tired of all the mystery flowers other drakes couldn't explain; the miracles hiding them were getting out of hand)
  • The dads debated for a bit, from investigating the area to talking with the townsfolk (especially when they sensed miracles in the area that weren't theirs)
  • Eventually released their child into the wilds of the Starwood Strand
  • Samhain wound up in the broken down Garden of the Eleven (they also found a lot of hound-like drakes, but they just had fun messing with them by hardly sleeping)
  • They were found by Raphael, enjoying a pear from the garden (coincidentally right after a nap, where they'd just finished poking fun at a Barghest in their dreams)
  • Story struck Raphael as familiar about their parents (perhaps because he remembered a similar story with his own angel, just more closely woven into the tales of the Eleven)
  • Convinced them to look at his own work, and swap notes
  • Eventually went on to become his assistant
  • Now helps the Herbology class with their own plants, and magic around it
  • Loves pulling pranks on the students and Raphael
  • Paired up with Writ, an imperial with cursed writing that often comes true
  • Tries to help him "live a little" ("That's what I'm trying to do. Live." is often his reply)
  • Wound up "sauntering vaguely downwards" for him (they claim they get it from their father; they don't elaborate further when asked)
  • Often writes with his quills and inks to write their own little "miracles" like their parents do (they thought the writing was for flair to be honest)
  • Use this to communicate wants between themself and Writ
  • One day just wrote "Living Miracles?" with no context
  • Writ, confused, wrote a story about a "living miracle"
  • Next day, Samhain woke him up by shoving a baby spiral in his face
  • Using his writing (and Samhain's little trick miracles of their own), they manage to write little chaos noodles into being
  • Then one ran in to mess with the "giant cursed puppers" (Samhain liked to brag about their own exploits with them, and is still proud of that noodle's exploits as well)
  • Shenanigans led to a Barghest biting Writ
  • Now happily nannies the "new cursed story puppers" in their downtime
  • Encourages them all to be a little chaotic, despite lack of blood ties
  • Makes sneaking the new Barghests out a game of sorts
