Iku

Iku was born Ignacia's favorite son for his beauty, which pleased his mother so well she decided to present him formally to Slattern, his father. Foolishly, she allowed her friend Morgaine to be present for the gathering, and whatever Morgaine knows, Einir knows, as well.

Inevitably, Sheatrima learned of her husband's wandering eye, and the fruit of his traitorous union. Enraged, she considered having all three slaughtered, but in a rare act of restraint, she hatched a different, more sinister plan. Consorting with the band of mercenaries that shelter off the great lake dividing the two clans, she contacted witches. Practitioners of dark magic, Epiphron, Emere, and Beneth provided a solution; a draught, which would take Ignacia's treasure and twist it before her very eyes.

Paying Veil to to slip the potion to the babe, the plan was set in motion. The poisoner dosed the drinking water beside Ignacia's nest, Veil tipped the vessel toward him, and the trusting hatchling drank. Immediately, the potion took effect. When Ignacia returned, her beautiful son was replaced with a two-headed abomination, screaming and writhing in confusion at his new body. Horrified and disgusted, heartbreak drove her over the edge. She flung the creature off the edge of a cliff, into the dark lake below.

The baby did not die there, however. He was plucked out of the lake by his blind relative, Phenteo, who heard his bleating. Now, he shelters with them in their cave, where Phenteo passes down their scrying spells, teaching their new apprentice.
