Originally part of another clan deep in the kites of the Cloudsong, Aelius left looking for better opportunities than his previous home could offer. They were quickly crumbling into nothing, a dead-end clan that would take Aelius nowhere, and if he wasn’t quick, he would be forgotten alongside them. Along his journey south, he met Mira, an Ice dragon with a penchant for magic. She was quick-witted, loyal, and adventurous. Although meeting her and her clan was a happy accident, Aelius was even more relieved when Mira decided to travel with him as he went further into the Icefields. Truthfully, he'd gotten too comfortable with her easy banter to imagine traveling without her. After stumbling upon the Frozen-Sea Clan, then just a handful of Ice dragons with a few clutches of eggs not their own, Aelius and Mira decided to aid the lonesome bunch rebuild their clan after listening to their story of woe. Their tales of a lost home, of their fallen clan, left his heart aching. Aelius might have chosen to leave his home, but these dragons did not. He would help them get it back. Working carefully alongside them, Aelius and Mira helped find and secure a cavern in the permafrost that would keep them safe from the elements. The eggs they burrowed in the snow, the ice of the shells indiscernible from the ice of the caves. Although Aelius grew friendly with the estranged dragons, they still were not yet friends, for there were many secrets the small Frozen-Sea Clan kept from him. Their lost clan, for instance, was a point of constant mystery. And whose eggs were these? How had they saved so many, but none of the other dragons survived with them? Over the years, many joined the Frozen-Sea Clan to aid them on their journey, and most even stayed when things grew more stable. The Frozen-Sea Clan quickly became a sanctuary to outsiders, to those who wanted to forge their own path in the chilly lands of the Southern Icefields, and to help build a clan’s legacy from the ground up as they did so. A naturally good leader, Aelius quickly rose up the ranks further and, upon the passing of the last clan founder, took up the name of Chief and became the rightful leader of the clan. He worked alone for quite some time, working dutifully and relentlessly to honour the dreams the original founders had for the clan. Aelius raised Clan Frozen-Sea like one would a hatchling, taking pains to make sure everything progressed without hiccup or hindrance. In truth, Aelius’ goal went past the founders. He had visions of the clan they used to live in, the one that had been lost to time and ruin. He wished to rebuild this forgotten clan, not just in size but in spirit. Aelius believed in his heart that the founders would see his efforts from beyond, and their thankful spirits would give the clan luck and glory immortal. This dream swiftly became a reality, at least in Aelius’ eyes. They grew in rank and number, grew in power and strength. As their lair quickly became a city and their territory a kingdom, Aelius and his beloved co-leader the Archmage Mira renamed the territory Rekhanci, and their kingdom a place of loyalty and honour. To Aelius, this is more than enough. | blankblank |
