Babel (he/him)
Babel is one of the leaders of the clan of Faer Town, and (according to him) spontaneously formed in the Zephyr Steppes. Babel's primary duties are decision-making, delegation of responsibilities (mostly to his eldest sons), and leading hunts. While he excels at these, and is generally considered good at running the town, he falls flat with social interaction. Babel is overzealous and generally lacks social intuition, and when the deities come up in conversation, his response is derailing at best and borderline offensive at worst. He never means offense, but Babel typically doesn't fully think his statements through, which makes him generally unfit for diplomacy and conflict resolution. This falls on Sooth, his (main?) partner, who is far more skilled in that respect. This makes their co-leadership well balanced (though not strictly necessary, at least for Sooth). |
One night, Babel disappeared. He had gone on a hunting trip, and had promised he'd be back to the town by sundown. But sundown came and went, and Babel was nowhere to be found. Not many were concerned, as Babel is both capable and easily distracted. The town expected him to return by morning, and return he did.
Steph had woken up earlier than usual, and had decided to do a quick survey of the crop fields since he had the time. He had just finished looking over the acorns of the oak orchard trees when he heard... laughing? He turned towards the source to see Babel in the distance, cackling loudly and hopping like a sprangyroo, of all things. Babel caught sight of Steph, and promptly yelled something he couldn't make out. "Come closer, I can't hear you!" Steph yelled back. Babel's hops turned to leaps, and he reached Steph in seconds. A hand, swirled with green, landed on Steph's shoulder, and he stared into glowing eyes, as he heard Babel speak.
"I have seen him. I have MET him." Babel said, voice indescribably different.
"...met who?"
"I have TALKED to him. And he TALKED BACK!" Babel said, voice nearly breaking down into laughter.
Steph was silent. Babel was nearly hysterical. Steph took the moment to look at Babel again. Green patterns, almost like wisps of wind, covered his body. Most obviously, his four eyes now had a nearly-blinding glow to them. But there was something else. Hung around his body was a lyre, decorated with metal wings and jade. It was obviously Windy in nature, and it was intricate, with the wings lovingly formed down to the feather. That was not too surprising. Babel had always been particularly pious, and it makes sense for him to get something to show his love for the Windsinger.
