Biography
Sabina
Gen 1 - Child of Jubilee and Fazed |
Noble of the Lapidians
|
|
Sabina, born to Queen Jubilee and Prince Fazed of Glacies, a spoiled princess doted on by both of her parents, albeit for different reasons. Jubilee groomed her daughter to be greedy and only pursue the finer things in life. Money and power were of utmost importance. Respect was to be commanded. Sabina learned from a young age to forcefully correct anyone who pronounced her name wrong. SabEENa not Sabrina, she would yell. She upturned her nose at the commoners and sneered at anyone who offered her less than what she wanted. She spent long days preening with her mother. She would only wear the finest robes and jewels, and she would comb her mane silky and smooth every morning and every night. A princess always had to look her best! Little did she know her mother only preened her and taught her as such as a way to groom her into becoming a beautiful prize for anyone willing to pay her dowry.... When Jubilee wasn't preening and fussing over Sabina, the young obelisk was left with her father, Fazed. Her time with Fazed was more relaxed and gentle than her time with Jubilee. Every time Sabina sneered or whined or yelled about something, Fazed gave her gentle correction and tried to show her manners and self control. They practiced kindness and studied culture, things that Jubilee would never "waste a second" on. Sabina was willing to learn as long as it earned her praise from her father, as all the attention and fussing Jubilee had done to her had most definitely turned her into an attention seeker. Still, Sabina learned to be kind to her subjects, to be attentive to the world around her. Through her adolescence, the desire to please her mother fought a blood war with the desire to please her father. Constantly Sabina was attempting to keep up appearances. With her mother her tongue was sharp and her tastes expensive. With her father her eyes were kind and her actions charitable. Desperately, Sabina wanted to please everyone and eventually this just left her confused and lost. Her mother saw a prize. Her father saw an individual. She herself just felt like a doll. Eventually it came to the time where the topic of Sabina's marriage was discussed. It was a heated topic between her parents. Fazed, for once in his life, held his ground against Jubilee when discussing Sabina's fate. He had already found someone to pay Sabina's dowry. Jubilee moaned and groaned about such a farce, claiming there were more than enough suitors there in the kingdom to take Sabina's hand in marriage. Only when Fazed said that the unknown party was willing to pay double Sabina's dowry did Jubilee shut up. When the day came to meet her fate head on, Sabina accompanied her parents to the meeting with the unknown party. To her surprise, they only met with two other dragons, the King and Queen of the Lapidians. There was no potential suitor in sight. They eagerly placed their offerings on the table to take Sabina with them before the terms were even discussed. No matter what, they were taking her. Jubilee of course imposed several terms. She required open communication with Sabina at all times through the couriers. Sabina was only to marry noble blood within the Lapidians' clan. Sabina required proper lodgings only fit for royalty. The Lapidians had to accept that maybe an envoy of Glacies would come by to make sure such terms were being met. The King and Queen accepted without hesitation. This pleased Jubilee, and she signed off her daughter without any second thoughts. As soon as money exchanged hands, Jubilee took her leave without looking back. Only Fazed said goodbye to Sabina, wishing her the best of luck with a sad smile. He told her that he would miss her, and that he would always hold her in his heart. Sabina almost cried that day, but was able to keep the tears at bay by thinking that her mother would say "It's unfit for royalty to cry." And after they exchanged their goodbyes, the King and Queen took her into their arms and welcomed her to the clan, leading her home to the Lapidians. Soon, Sabina realized that the Lapidians were more than just a clan looking to ally themselves with Glacies as she had thought. Actually, they weren't trying to ally with Glacies at all, but instead had come to take her on Fazed's request, to take her to a new home that would be loving and accepting of her unconditionally. To give her freedom. As soon as they had crossed over into Lapidian territory, this had been revealed to her, and they said that despite her mother's terms she had the right to choose her future. She could choose her own home, her own mate. It was all up to her. Sabina had conflicted feeling on such a prospect. What would happen if her mother knew? Was she really allowed her freedom? Would she marry for love or for wealth? Her dowry was paid for by perfect strangers just so her father could get her away from Glacies? Sabina had been overjoyed and downright furious at the same time. At first she had screamed at them about it, how dare they deceive her mother, the Queen of Glacies! But she was only met with sympathetic smiles and loving embraces, leading her to break down sobbing and to apologize for her actions, to thank them for respecting her father's wishes. It would take some time, and even perhaps some therapy offered to her by the clan healer, to get over the wounds her upbringing had left her. Sabina was in the end granted a house befit for nobility and for the first few moons open communications with Jubilee before the letters had stopped coming, almost as if she were forgotten about. She abstained from marriage until she could find the right dragon, perhaps a noble-born who would look at her for love rather than as a prize. Only time can tell.... |
Marriage was not something Sabina suspected that she would partake in so soon after joining the Lapidians. After all, her dowry had been paid for her freedom, not for her hand in marriage. If anything, Sabina wanted to focus on herself and heal from her past traumas while settling into her new life where, while everyone seemed to know her name, the expectations of her were nowhere near what they had been back in Glacies.
Fate however, had other plans, plans by the name of Lybert. A plucky young Imperial who had been brought to the Lapidians in a similar way to herself - a dowry paid for by the royals to bring him into their clan of freedom. Sabina was intrigued by his appearance into the clan, but he was reluctant to give away any information about himself upon their meeting, so she pushed any interest in him away to rather focus on her own healing and growth.

I am a Second Generation child of Jubilee's and Fazed's lineage. While my mother is a Noble of the Lapidians, her mother - Jubilee, the self proclaimed Queen of Glacies - has forgotten about her. Does that make her a runaway? How do the eyes of history perceive me?
