Biography
Audaxius
The Tearer of Flesh
Audaxius has a complicated history with Ashmane's party.
As one of the foremost warriors of the Poxbearer Knights, Audaxius has built up a reputation as a terrifying and savage dragon. It is said that entire armies are torn apart in her wake, leaving nothing but corpses strewn across the battlefield. In her aftermath, there is nary a living soul but Audaxius, feasting on the carrion-ridden bodies around her. Wielding great power granted by the Plaguebringer herself, she leads the charge across the blighted lands of the Scarred Wasteland, all too willing to spread the glorious gifts of the Plaguebringer to the rest of the unblighted world.
Yet there is another side to her.
In the times before she was a warrior, Audaxius was just Auda, a young plague guardian in training. During a particularly bad exercise she was severly wounded far away from home. Wandering at the edges of the Plague flight's territory, she was found and saved by a young Lady Ashmane, who wielded great healing power carried to her from the windsinger. Although Lady Ashmane's disdain for the Plague flight was well known, she made an exception and took the little plague bearer into her care.
After she became well, Auda returned in the plague lands.
Time passed, and she forgot about her accident entirely.
Instead, Audaxius began looking to the future. Like all guardian dragons, she felt the pull to find a charge. She always thought hers would be something from her lands. A scarred crater, an infection, or maybe even a vicious blight. As her might grew, and her terrible name with it, she dreamed of one day fighting alongside the Plaguebringer faithfully. Her loyalty to the Plaguebringer was so great that she would give her life to protect anything she desired.
But one day, she met Lady Ashmane again. And when she saw, Audaxius knew.
She was her charge.
At first she couldn't believe it. She felt her stomach fall as she desperately tried to reject the idea. Not only was her charge not Plague affiliated, but someone who might even one day be her enemy?
But deep down she instinctively felt it. The desire. The compulsion. The need to protect her. The debt she owed compelled her to repay Ashmane by guarding her with her life.
But that would mean abandoning everything she had ever dreamed of.
It was the first time she ever felt so conflicted in her life.
