Far from the bustling streets of Goldensparc or the industrious lands of the Tempest Spire, at the edge of the Shifting Expanse bordering the Ashfall Wastes, there exists a valley where the storm never abates. But what's so special about this valley is the spectacle of the aurora, rising from Southern Icefield and snaking its way towards the Shifting Expanse. It is in this valley in which Thjorstol lives, consulting the evershifting dance of colours emanating from beyond the sea.

Using his innate powers of lightning, Thjorstol is able to weave the fabric of the aurora with the crackling energy of the storm. Rising to the skies like the turn of the galaxy, the spectacle is a beauty to behold, as streaks of lightning from Thjorstol's crystal become intertwined with the waltz of the aurora.

However, the reason why he does this is a secret known only to Thjorstol.



When Glaevejr first heard rumours of a lightning dragon able to create an aurora, she was intrigued. Could this be a dragon that had found the secret to dual element natures, she thought? As a researcher of elemental magic, this was an opportunity she could not miss out. So she set out to the valley of the Shifting Expanse to meet this dragon.

Upon meeting Thjorstol, the lightning dragon was immediately smitten by Glaevejr's beauty. But he was soon disappointed that she was only interested in his powers. Glaevejr introduced herself as a researcher of elemental magic, and asked him all sorts of questions about his aurora powers. Wanting the best of both worlds, Thjorstol agreed to answer only if Glaevejr went on a date with him.

This was, of course, unexpected to Glaevejr, who had never entertained the idea of a romantic relationship ever. She agreed, but told him it was strictly professional. However, by the end of the date, Thjorstol managed to melt her heart. Their sense of humour, intelligence and conversational mastery balanced each other out, and they both had more fun than they ever anticipated.

At the end, Thjorstol confessed that he had no double element nature. He was merely manipulating the electrical charges in the air to create a magnetic phenomenon. Thjorstol explained to her how the aurora was essentially solar wind hitting the magnetosphere of Sornieth. This ionizes and energizes the particles in the surrounding atmosphere, which emits natural light, causing the natural phenomena known as the aurora.

Glaevejr was disappointed, but strangely, she found herself reluctant to leave.

They met many times after, discussing many topics both intellectual and mundane. And in the end, they fell in love with each other. Although they live apart, they are only one region apart, and they made time to visit each other weekly.

Still though, Glaevejr never did manage to figure out just what Thjorstol is doing.
