Many Dragons in the Clan will tell you that these two are a most unlikely pairing. Though Astra may claim she does not enjoy how carefree her Lifemate often is, she in fact finds comfort in Ayano, who never allows a dreary mood to exist around him, no matter how overworked Astra is.

In contrast to Astra’s usual calm and professional demeanor, Aururan has been a troublemaker ever since he was taken in as a hatchling. Astra has taken it upon herself to keep Aururan under control, which is a task far easier said than done, especially when Aururan’s pranks get more elaborate the harder Astra tries.

Astra and Cammie have much in common. Though, where Astra chooses to brood and avoid conflict when wronged, Cammie will bite one’s head off without too much thought, despite her size. Often, they will ask each other for help when dealing with situations they do not have the skills for.

When Astra first entered the Lair, she was appalled by the mess it was in. The Hoard was completely disorganized, the nests were rudimentary, and the walls were cracked and crumbling. She took it upon herself to both fix the mess that was there, and prevent further mess from occurring. This role eventually evolved into her position as the Official Clan Record-Keeper. Their relocation into the Emperor’s Wake has only made the problems worse, as whenever the horrible creature walks a bit too close, Dragons, Astra among them, will spend quite a while replacing and rebuilding the fallen objects that were not nailed down.

Her personality made this inevitable, as she is an orderly Dragon, and cannot stand disorganization or chaos. While Nocturnes instinctively adopt the traits of other Dragons, Astra has done so much slower, as though her desire for her Clan to be a well-oiled machine overrides her biological instincts. In fact, her propensity for proper conduct may very well be partly genetic, as her children show a similar cleanliness. Once, a clutch of her Hatchlings had taken apart their nest and rearranged the straw in order from smallest to largest.

It is common to see Astra in her office in the High Tower, mulling over stacks of paper. It is because of her that nothing the Clan owns goes missing for long. Transactions, transfers, and even how much food the Clan is eating, are all written out and passed through her. While she takes joy in her work, even she grows weary of it, socializing with the rest of the Clan, if a bit awkwardly. Perhaps it is her prolonged periods of isolation that have suppressed her adaptational instincts.

Indeed, it is almost certain that her behavior is a manifestation of a Light Dragon’s scholarly tendencies. She is in charge of not only the Clan’s collective paperwork, but also the planning and execution of expeditions and experiments. Of course, Astra gives thanks to the Lightweaver, and worships her above the other deities… when she has some free time on her claws, anyway.

While excellent for important business and professional settings, Astra’s insistence that all things must be “just so” can lead to conflict in other contexts. Astra, as an example, is no longer allowed on diplomatic missions outside of the Sunbeam ruins after an incident in the Scarred Wasteland, the nature of which offended her inclination towards cleanliness.
