Sylas is a fully-grown orca mer who owns a stretch of territory in the Antarctic waters alongside his brother, Sylph. He is the more laidback of the two orcas, as well as being smaller than his sibling despite being older. Sylas is however, more powerful and skilled in terms of wielding his magic, capable of much more things than Sylph can do. He can also be aggressive when any harm comes to his loved ones, and will unleash attacks on his opponent with no mercy if they come to hurt his beloved friends or family. He also has a skeleton form, as well as a full Undertide form when he is not in his orca form. Schools of fish flee by the dozens when Sylas is seen in the waters as a powerful orca who radiates a power like his is an orca to fear. His arrival is usually seen as an omen of death and demise, earning him the nickname among the sealife as the Dark Angel or the Harbringer of the End. It does not stop him from being successful at hunting ---- managing to catch and feed on a variety of fish, seabirds, squid, penguins, seals, dolphins, porpoises, and even other whales. Sharks are another story, being harder to catch in cold waters. He is aware of the existence of other mer types, but has yet to meet another as formidable as him. On a particular stormy day in the Antarctic, Sylas was patrolling when he met with a injured, but feisty, adult leopard seal. Instead of putting the weak creature out her misery, he brought her to an underwater cave of ice where there were air pockets for the seal to breathe. Sylas could not have imagined his own surprise when a skeletal face slid out from under the slowly disintegrating pelt, revealing the familiar scent of death. While he determined that the selkie was already meant to die, she miraculously survived, glaring at him when she regained consciousness. Sylas has ever since grew a connection to the leopard seal, whose name he now knew was Xev. Sylas loves to annoy or tease her whenever they meant on either of their hunting patrols, watching as the seal throw tantrums and slap their flippers on her belly in protest or exasperation. Xev very much denies the growing love between them, but deep down, she really cares about her idiot of an orca. |
