Dublin has always been fascinated by aviation. The way how a single crow finds its way towards flight by cheating its weight, or how massive wings were found to launch one off of the ground.
This may be why his desk is full of bird anatomy and skulls, and don't bother with the rest of the dorm.
Today, he was leaning back on his chair and reading a book about the history of corruption. Earlier, he had Jan come over and (thankfully) she'd let him study her.
He'd started this project ever since he completed his exams for the term, and it seemed to be going nowhere.
There was a knock on his door, and Dublin got up from his seat and opened the door to where Henrietta was standing.
``Ah, hello!``
He smiled, letting her inside. ``You needed some help with the psychology exam, right?``
Henrietta was the exact reason he was researching corruption in the first place. He knew about her voices despite not mentioning them, and Dublin was wondering if the voice was a sense of corruption in her head.
``Yeah, I just.. need some help with the last question.``
Henrietta would sit down on a bean bag and forage in her satchel while whispering to herself.
Dublin frowned. He's only heard snippets of her muttering to the voices and by the looks of it, it seemed bad.
He reached over to his desk and got out a spare book while also hiding his notes from her and sat down as Henrietta spoke.
``I don't really know how to structure the text, that's all.``
He nodded, picking up a copy with what he already wrote for the exam. `` One way I use to get me to write is to repeat the question and begin from there.`` She shrugged, starting to write notes.
Suddenly Henrietta clenched her forehead and gave Dublin a hopeful look.
``Hang on, I have to go to the bathroom.. ``
He got up, pointing to where the door was as she rushed past.
Dublin shook his head. It was worse than he thought. He wanted to try and listen in, but he’d never hear the end of it if he was caught.
He just sighed, and got his notes out again. If Henrietta had something so bad she didn’t try to hide it anymore, that says a lot. Even with the look she gave him.
Dublin heard the door open, and saw Henrietta pack up her things.
``I-I’m sorry, I have to go back to my dorm… ``
He nodded respectfully, but wasn’t even sure if she saw it. She was already out the door.
Dublin massaged his forehead out of frustration. His one chance to learn more, and it didn’t even last five minutes.
He turned back to his book on corruption. Maybe he needs another book. He’d then get up to his shelves, and pull out the read on psychology he used for the exam.
Dublin sat back down at his desk and opened up the tome. Perhaps today was all the proof he needed to keep going.
