Sunwing

Before he was hatched, Sunwing's parents were killed by a brutal fight between the light flight and the shadow flight, leaving him orphaned. However his status as an orphan and his lack of lineage did not keep this fae dragon down. As a hatchling the wide open skies drew him to them and all he could think about was the places he has yet to see. He lived from one experience to the next, always ready for a new adventure. However as he grew, he became tired of roaming around and set out to find a place where he could call his own. His adventures took him to the Starfall Isles and the Crystalline Caverns. The mysterious caverns with their deep luminous walls and secrets within beckoned him and he welcomed this new place to explore. It was the perfect place. He would set up a small camp within a cave with his meager supplies and then set off on his next adventure, exploring the caves inside and out.

However when he returned, in the cavernous entrance, high above the dead end caves and twisting paths, he found a small amber nest. As soon as he set foot in the cave he was met with a magic blast. He feared for a moment that a clan had invaded his territory. But before him stood a single fae dragon. He was shocked to learn that a clan was indeed moving into his territory, but it was a clan of one, the newly formed ShadowStar clan. And the fae dragon female was it's sole member. She demanded he leave but he retorted that this was his place and he went to show her his small horde. However since he had been away, most of his stuff had been taken by familiars. It was not enough to convince the fae female that he was there first. But he stood his ground and refused to leave. The first few times he ventured out of the cave, she would chase him and assault him with her contusive blasts. However soon, the attacks stopped and she simply ignored him, save for the hostile remarks they exchanged when they crossed paths. These angry retorts would turn to sorrow when one day he asked her why she didn't just leave if she hated him so much. And she replied that she didn't hate him, she simply had no where else she belonged and she didn't want to lose the only place she felt at home. In the past, she had been chased out by other dragons and she wasn't about to be chased out by him. Sunwing sympathized and clarified that he wasn't going to chase her out, and she could keep her nest. He shared his experiences as well. Both agreed they would share the territory.

As time went on, he would learn her name was Kylara and she also had no lineage. As they learned more about each other and talked about their favorite things, they realized they had much in common but were also very different and they complemented each other well. He slowly fell in love with her. He asked to join her clan and to be her mate. Kylara had also fallen for him as well and agreed.

As time went on, even though he had a mate and hatchlings on the way, nothing could tame his explorative nature and he took to exploring the depths of the caves. Sometimes Kylara would accompany him, other times he would go alone. But as they explored and stayed deeper in the caves, they're bodies changed. His body which was once unmarred now had a striped pattern. They were both terrified of this but Sunwing wanted to find the source of the change. While Kylara stayed with the eggs, he went deeper into the caves than ever before. There he saw strange familiars and swore he caught a glimpse of multiple eyes staring at him from a distance. However he soon came across a camp where strange dragons lived. The dragons were few in number but they all had glowing runes upon their scales. The rune dragons regarded him with fear initially but when he spoke, they understood him and saw he was no threat to them.

There he learned that they were the Runemarked, initially a clan of dragons who had made this part of the caves their home but the deeper parts of the caves held sinister dangers in their depths. Slowly the dragons began to change, much like Kylara and Sunwing did. Some would simply get new traits while others would change species entirely. Others still would grow multiple eyes on their bodies and develop an obsession with something called the Sphere of Oblivion that they had to find. Any dragon that was marked with the eyes would sometimes plan to kill all those without, saying they have to please the sphere. They believed that the Sphere was responsible for the changes. Some dragons though developed rune markings which seemed to protect them from the Sphere's influence. As for Sunwing and Kylara, it seemed that because they very seldom went to the deeper parts of the cave, they were only exposed to minor effects. However the Runemarked soon became targets of the multi gaze dragons, those called the Mad. The clan was decimated, from once containing over 30 members to only 6. Sunwing invited the Runemarked back to their clan, where they became allies and members of the ShadowStar Clan.

Later when the system of job factions fell into place and hatchlings found their Calling, the Explorer's Faction would be born from Sunwing's desire to keep learning and exploring the caves as well as the entire world. Naturally Kylara would appoint her mate to become the Taskmaster of Exploring. Who knows what Sunwing will discover next.
