Role: Leader and Matriarch of the ShadowStar clan

Before Kylara was hatched, a violent fight broke out between factions of the shadow flight and the light flight, killing her parents and knocking her egg from nesting grounds in the Tangled Woods. She hatched alone in the dark, no parents, no clan, no place to call her own. It was only by her instincts, a lot of luck, and the will of the Arcanist that she managed to survive until adulthood. With no lineage to claim her, she could not find refuge with other clans for they distrusted those who could not even name their parents. She traveled far and wide across the lands, until her natural wit and curiosity drew her to the Starfall Isles and it's abundance of knowledge and magic. For the first time, she felt at home. Yet she still couldn't find a clan. Not one to be deterred by obstacles, Kylara forged her own clan, the ShadowStar clan. Named Shadow for her past in the shadow flight and Star for her future in the Starfall Isles. She built her lair inside a large cave in the Crystalline Caverns, a subset of the Crystalspine Reaches. It took a lot of amber but she hung her brilliant nest in center of a network of caves. The same network of caves where another fae dragon had made his home as well. By a curious twist of fate, he was orphaned by the same fight that left her without her lineage.

She spent ages attempting to drive out the annoying intruder but he stuck fast, claiming the caves were just as much as his home as they were hers. She let him stay in his cave. She had more important things to attend to. While they initially kept to themselves, they would begin to cross paths as they caught insects or searched for treasure to add to their respective hoards. She learned his name was Sunwing and he too had no lineage. However it did not bother him as he considered himself a free spirit, but he still felt lonely without a clan. As time went on they would meet more often, and for longer times. Their talk shifted from hostility to pleasantries to deep discussions. They talked about the mysteries of the caverns, and what had drawn them to the Starfall Isles. They discussed their favorite scrolls and authors, different alchemy theories, and philosophies. As they grew closer, they started to fall in love and Sunwing would become Kylara's mate.

However, the adventures for the small clan were just beginning, the conflicts of the world wouldn't leave them alone, and they had chosen a very mysterious and dangerous place to settle. The crystalline caverns held much mystery, and soon Kylara who was born without markings, found that her scales and wings had taken on a pattern and they shimmered with coppery bronze sparkles as she walked. The cave had changed both her and Sunwing. Sunwing would explore this phenomenon, delving deep within the caves. However Kylara had to stay with her nest, as she had recently laid eggs. When her mate returned she would learn of the Sphere of Oblivion and how it was responsible for their changes.

Conflict didn't just come from the Caverns but also from the outside world as well. With warring factions and many different incidents of strange magic, a high number of hatchlings are often turned out on their own. Many were exalted, a gentle term for being snatched up by deities to use as their fodder in the wars. It was most likely these dragons are dead. When a hatchling stumbled upon the ShadowStar clan, Kylara simply couldn't turn them away. Whether it was driven by compassion or empathy due to her past, she felt determined to help all the lost dragons she could. This lead to a great surge in their numbers. At one point she had over 10 hatchlings to care for, including her own newly hatched daughters. For this she was given the title of Matriarch, and every dragon in the ShadowStar clan would view her as the wisest among them.

Her kindness, curiosity and calm diplomatic nature would also secure her the favor of the many mysterious subsets of dragons who lived in the Crystalline Caverns. Of course, being a fae dragon and being a little strange herself, would help. She would foster relationships with the Runemarked, the Crystal Sages and the Ancient Ones. Some would even join her clan as members, acting as ambassadors between the ShadowStar Clan and their Respective factions.

As their numbers grew, the chaos of everyone doing their own thing began to enact a heavy toll on the clan. They needed organization. Kylara saw that many dragons found one thing they highly enjoyed doing and that they were good at. Sunwing loved exploring, Fallon was a natural warrior, Deadra was obsessed with plants. It was like each had found something that called to them. So Kylara created factions where each dragon could indulge in the things they loved most, the things that called to them. Dragons would choose their calling and join a faction of the clan. To lead the factions and report to her, she appointed the Taskmasters: Sunwing as taskmaster of exploring, Fallon as taskmaster of war, Artemis as taskmaster of hunting, Deadra as taskmaster of foraging, and Trev as taskmaster of scavenging. Additional factions would be founded later, but these initial factions would be the foundation of the clan.

Through Kylara's leadership, the Shadowstar clan will continue to flourish.
