Kalstralev was hatched deep in the Leviathan Trench, on one of the coldest days of that year. The winter temperatures above the waves mean nothing to him, nor does the chill of Kedreeva's touch; he is far more interested in the warmth of her heart.

He is a slow, quiet soul, though it is a peaceful sort of tranquility. The other members of the Clan often say that if you watch him for a while, you can see the ghosts of his deep-water past flickering across his pale hide like glimmering fish. The hatchlings of the clan say that the sea still echoes in the curve of his wings when he moves. He has never spoken where any in the Clan can hear, and many believe this is because he left his voice beneath the waves.

There are some who believe that Kedreeva has taken Kalstralev's soul and bound it into the small pendant that she wears. Maybe that, they say, is why Kal has made no other connections within the Clan...
