Divine Attendants have historically had a very important role in Ieri Poli. At face value you might expect that this role would be to fulfil the Herald's every whim, but in reality it is quite different. They are far more community focused, liaising between the Heralds and the people as well as generally serving the community by arranging festivals, sorting out issues in the community, and otherwise being a steadfast beacon of serenity, understanding, and faith. One of the current Divine Attendants is Signy, dedicated to Ios Dei. As with all roles dedicated to the absent First Herald, Signy is unable to go to her patron to help him directly and instead acts as a go-between for everyone as a connection between the divine and the mortal. This isn't a problem for her: she's very happy to do so. Everyone knows her very well and it's a bit of a right of passage for newcomers to see her. At first she seems kind but a little dim, an airhead, but she is actually an almost preternaturally good judge of character and tends to accidentally cut to the quick of a person's personality. She is very emotionally and academically intelligent, someone who you might expect to find in a library instead of walking the streets with messages from the divine. This trait is one she passed onto her son: who definitely wasn't sired by Orpheus Dei visiting her at some point, definitely not. |
