Chiptune was walking along the streets of Crescent City, tail dragging behind her and head lowered in dismay. This was very unlike her usual chipper and bright attitude which electrified others around her with enthusiasm. Muttering under her breath, she was rehashing all the attempts she and her associates in SCALES (Scientific Community of Advancement in Livelihood, Environment, and Society) in reanimating a golem that was brought to their island from the Refuge. They tried all facets of science – electricity, alchemy, medicine – to name a few – but all attempts failed. It was now nearing almost a year, and SCALES was about to give up...all except Chiptune. There had to be a solution, there just had to be!...

Zummārah
noticed Chiptune’s unusual behavior with concern reflected in his fixed gaze and furrowed brows. Giving himself a nod, he took a bright, cyan-colored flower from one of his stands and placed it through one of Chiptune’s sets of facial feathers. In an instant, Chiptune stopped in her tracks and bolted upright as though she was struck with a sudden burst of energy. Electricity surged through her body and off her feathers in a spectacular fashion, causing other dragons around to stare transfixed by the stunning display of energy.

It was only a moment before Chiptune’s body relaxed as she blinked in confusion. “What was that?!” she exclaimed. “A new order of flowers my store is selling today,” he gestured back at the bushels of flowers in his store, “They’re nicknamed Stormcatcher’s Order, and they seem to have the biggest effect on lightning element dragons. As you experienced, it gives a sort of jump-start to a lightning dragon, making them ready to do about anything, including their deity’s order. Thus the nickname,” the Spiral winked, “Figured you could use it the way you were aimlessly dragging your tail through the marketplace.”

Chiptune smiled warmly and gave the Spiral a warm hug, “Thank you my friend. It really did help,” and then her eyes widened. “And perhaps in more ways than one! Can I buy a few of those flowers please?” Zummārah gave a concerned frown, “You’re not going to use them all at once to try to think up some new solution to an experiment, are you? They can be addictive to lightning dragons if you use too much of them...” The Coatl shook her head side-to-side vigorously, “No! Absolutely not. That one flower gave me all the juice I needed to continue my work and even have an idea to solve my problem – to use these flowers to reanimate that golem we’ve been working with for so long!”

The Spiral eyes widened as realization dawned on him, “You mean that lightning-element golem that was delivered here ages back from the Refuge? I remember how the city all wanted to catch a glimpse of it. Trompette’s crew had to drive them all off as they were making the delivery to the SCALES headquarters.”

“The very same,” chirped Chiptune, “I wonder if her association with her previous nature flight clan may require a sort of nature-related solution to bringing her back to life – and there is only one way to find out!” The Spiral gave a bright smile and gathered a few flowers into a bag which he then passed to Chiptune. She passed him a few coins and hurried off to her lab, ready to implement her hypothesis on the still form that had remained listless for far too long.

The being blinked a few times, eyes adjusting slowly to the scene around her. It was a lab, filled with all sorts of gizmos and gadgets that she could not fathom their uses for. She then turned her head, almost painfully, as though it remained stiffened for far too long, towards a set of bright, eager eyes that stared right back at her.

“It worked!” the Coatl exclaimed, “It finally worked! How are you feeling? Do you remember anything? What’s your name? What happened to you to shut down like you did?” Chiptune was prattling on with questions at such a fast speed that they almost seemed to pass over the waking Snapper golem.

“I...don’t remember...most things...I like to sing…” the Snapper looked sadly at the excited Coatl, “I’m terribly sorry that I can’t seem recall much of anything.” But Chiptune kindly smiled at the golem, “It’s all okay. I didn’t know what reanimating you would do to your memories, but it seems like almost a complete reset other than your basic personality and interests. We’ll make sure you get you back on your feet in no time though. How do you feel?”

“Very stiff,” the golem said, “And a little disoriented. I think my body has not been used to moving for some time,” her eyes looked worried, “How long was I out?” “Well, you came to us about a year ago. You may have been out for even longer…” Chiptune’s voice quieted to almost nothing, but she quickly composed herself, “But let’s look forward! We got to get you moving like the dragon you should. I’ll contact Arietta to schedule you for some physical therapy. Techno and Ferrinho are amongst the animated dragons in SCALES that can get your living quarters settled. And you like to sing right?”

The Snapper’s eyes flashed with a hint of hope hearing the question, “Yes, I love to sing.” Chiptune gave a knowing smile, “Then I have to sync you up with the musicians here in Crescent City. Ella is a noted singer – let’s make sure to have you two meet up sometime soon!”

The Snapper golem gave a warm smile, “Thank you my friend. What is your name?” “Chiptune! Nice to meet you, uhhhh…” “Pleasure to meet you, Chiptune. I’m afraid I don’t remember my name,” the Snapper paused in thought, “Call me Scat - I enjoy singing in that style.” Chiptune nodded and smiled, “Scat, I like it! Nice to meet you, Scat!”
