The once proud Templar of Ios known as Thales is little but a dirty whisper passed from mouth to mouth now. Oh yes, he was a charming and incredible man in his time, one of the cleansing blades of the paladin Order, a man who worked tirelessly to do good in the world. But these things tend not to last. It's hard work when you face the worst of the worst day in day out, seeing the way the Shade can warp everything. That's what they say about him: when you ask what did he did, it changes on the person. All that's clear is that something terrible happened due to him, and thanks to that the other Templars convened and relieved him of his position. If you ask them, they'll say that they sent him away from Ieri Poli, that he was able simply to live out his life as a civilian now. It's not the truth. Thales Tsakalidis was sent to the Hewn City to fight until he finally succumbed, an exile in the harshest sense. The problem is that he did not die. He thought he would, but he could never let go of the things that made him so effective in the first place; the loyalty turned to bitterness inside him, strength into revenge, disgust into acceptance. And so he lived, and lived, and lived. The Shade began to infect him of course, though it did not strip him of his will nor his mind. The celestial powers inside him curdled. He would become a Templar of the Shade- though one who didn't particularly worship it, instead simply prowling about the Hewn City snatching anyone who ventures too close, waiting for the day where he can return to Ieri and haunt those who sent him away. |
