There are a fair amount of mages in Ieri Poli. Pursuit of magic is highly coveted, close to the divine. The way that Light magic can be used to cleanse corruption and heal the sick is an honour that few lay claim to, after all. But of course, not everyone wants to learn such things. Magic is not just for support and healing, it is a weapon to be wielded like any other. This is coveted too, for blades raised for the Heralds to protect others is simply part of the work of the Order. But then there's the others.

The ones who perhaps would be better off in Arcane or Lightning. They want to see where the limits lie, what can be taken and what can be given. One may argue, as this one here has, that finding where these boundaries lie is vital in the fight against the Shade and the remnants who continue to threaten the lives of thousands. There was a woman once who thought this.

Others didn't agree, though. She's pretty flippant about it: or defensive, you could say. Doesn't matter, just call her Obscura. She lives at the border of the Hewn City where she studies the effect Shade infection has on flora, fauna, and other dragons- including herself. She's been attacked multiple times, mistaken for a mindless husk, so she tends to flit deeper in the dark to hide when people come looking. It's not that she's unable to take them out or cares about them, she just needs more time on her research. If she'll take that research back to Ieri Poli or to the Shade, that's up in the air.
