Biography
GENERATION 3A C I E R ZELIEVNA'S LINE
WITCHBORNE TITLE
It had been a long time - many, many years since Cauchemar had allowed herself consort with mortals. Long ago, she had been terrified when she found herself the mother to a single child and she had run from her former lover, never looking back. Perhaps, somewhere deep down she regretted that decision, but she never allowed herself to dwell. She vowed that she would continue her work and that her affairs with mortals would be limited to the occasional business transaction. The pact that Cauchemar had made with the vampire hunter, Argent was one such business transaction. Yet over time, even Chauchemar’s cold and calculated facade had cracked in the presence of the Pearlcatcher. . . and that led to her current predicament; staring down at the forms of two gleaming eggs amidst a nest of soft pelts. Her old fears bubbled forth as she worried that her children would inherit her terrible curse and have to choose between bloodlust or the insatiable ache of hunger. Argent reassured her, yet Cauchemar still fretted as the full moon grew near. Finally, the full moon rose and with it the first cracks appeared in the eggshells. They splintered apart slowly, revealing two children who took remarkably after their father. Still, Cauchemar could sense the strands of her own tainted bloodline - the essence of witch’s magic and the stench of vampirism that made her snarl. “It will be ok” Argent assured her with a smile, “no one is born a monster, no matter what curses they inherit.” Cauchemar held to these words as her mate leaned down to draw tarot cards for their children, as was custom for all of those born of witch’s blood. Argent peered down at the newborns, two Pearlcatcher twins with dark scales that sparkled with shifting runic magic. Cauchemar chose their names while Argent drew the cards. The first was Laiton whose card revealed the magician while the second was Acier, the ten of swords. Cauchemar shifted forward tentatively to greet her children. Certainly, they would have to navigate the abilities they were born with, but she knew that Argent’s words held the truth. Whether the children would see their lineage as a gift or a curse was entirely up to fate to decide. “We will be their guides” Argent spoke, and Cauchemar finally allowed herself to smile. She would not run away this time. |
Unlike his sister, Acier never inherited the craving for drinking blood that their mother feared. Instead, his abilities as a Witchborne far outshadowed and suppressed any vampiric urges. He could still sense the presence of blood strongly, so strongly in fact, that at times his magic would simply reach out and entangle with the blood and flesh of those creatures around him. He found himself easily able to manipulate and control others through this magic and some accused him of being a blood bender. Still, his parents taught him well, and he didn’t dare use his abilities on the innocent. . . he reserved them instead for the monsters that his family hunted. |
