ShiftGrandfolia

Shifting Grandifolia are an elusive species of dragon. Because they are among the smallest and least threatening of the Lightning subspecies their bodies have developed in a way that makes them blend in with their home environment. Their tough, slightly wrinkled hide protects them from cactus needles while their wings can be folded or expanded to mimic the shape of the flowers they protect with their spines. They take refuge among the cacti of the Shifting Expanse during the day using their grooved skin and waxy looking wings to disguise themselves as budding cactus flowers as they sleep nestled among the spines. While asleep minuscule amounts of electricity escape from their bodies and stimulate the plants to grow much faster and larger than normal. When Night time reduces the desert heat they awake and begin their work spreading young cactus buds from their home patch to other suitable areas on the Expanse. They work from July to September spreading these new buds and seeds in secret but spring time is when they become most busy with pollinating cactus flowers of mature plants. During the autumn months they harvest the fruit and pads of the cacti and send large shipments of the crop to local processing facilities to be prepared for sale and consumption. The Shifting Expanses cactus fruit industry flourishes under their care and vigilance.
