As one of the first aberrations hatched within the Sanctuary, Zephyr carries himself with pride. Perhaps too much pride. For he is often seen parading through the clan, boasting of his sparkling coat, facet eyes, and many mutations: the most striking of them being the bioluminescent scales that speckle his body. They are unlike any other of his kind and a manifestation of his ability.

When Zephyr hatched, the Sanctuary was a budding territory, a mere fraction of its current size. Thus, Zephyr often ventured beyond the borders. He'd climb the bones of massive beasts, soar atop the toxic clouds, and seek a new discovery each day.

One of these discoveries was a shoreline some miles from the Sanctuary. Beaches were not uncommon within the Scarred Wasteland, but their shores were often tainted with yellowed, sizzling water that burned dragons outside of the plague element. The water along this shore ran clear and blue, a pocket from the Sea of a Thousand Currents.

Upon this discovery, Zephyr hesitated. He had been warned not to trifle with rival territory, but curiosity outweighed his caution and he stepped foot into the waters.

The water was cool to the touch and beckoned him to dive under. He did so and discovered a new world. Colorful corals, anemones, and fish not only survived but thrived and Zephyr sought to know them all.

Each day, he ventured from the Sanctuary and explored the waters. He'd bring home beautiful shells and scrumptious seafood for his clan to feast upon. Soon, crowds of dragons would gather for his returns, eagerly requesting tales of his latest adventure.

With each excursion, Zephyr's body adapted. Patches of his skin hardened into scales that shimmered in the sunlight and glowed in the darkest depths: an adaptation seen in no other plague dragon. The scales also streamlined his movement, and soon he was able to swim as a dragon born in the tides.

Zephyr's clan applauded his dominion over a new element, and he became highly respected within the Sanctuary. So much so, that when talk arose of expanding the territory, he was the first consulted. He recounted his excursions and suggested expanding the territory in the direction of the beach. Rather than fear outside elements, they should be embraced and the clan would be stronger for it.

The clan's leader, Millicent, agreed heartily and staked a claim on the beach. The waters supplied the Sanctuary with a constant supply of clean water and seafood to accommodate the growing population. Additionally, the waters served as a safe passage to the Sea of a Thousand Currents. At Zephyr's lead, the clan explored this passage and made their first contact with dragons of the water flight. Early interactions were tense, but with patience, communication, and compromise, common ground was found and the Sanctuary forged lifelong alliances.

Zephyr is always quick to remind fellow dragons that it is thanks to his exploration that the Sanctuary gained such influence. His ego has swelled over the years, but the Sanctuary allows him this indulgence, always complimenting his sparkling scales and commending his part in the Sanctuary's early days.
