Naerys Indulgent - Stoic - Haughty Naerys rules the clan by near deific right. She founded the clan, formed it, demolished it, and rebuilt it. While she is a hard ruler, rigid, and highly demanding, she also rewards those who prove their worth. She believes in luxury both as a means and an end. A softer side is reserved for her daughter. From the moment Danaerys entered her life, she groomed her as her heir. With the clan's future secured, Naerys again finds herself favoring time spent patrolling her land, or training young devotees to serve the gods. |

Biography unbound by fate, countless paths destined to cruelty or mercy It is whispered, by the few left who were with her then, that in the beginning, the matriarch of the clan was warm. Once, they say, she smiled often and sought to make any and all feel welcome in her lair. Those once welcomed, though, are long since gone. Dismissed. Forced to serve whichever deity Naerys sought favor with at the time. The coldness that crept at her heart now firmly grips it. It is not cruelty, not yet; those scarce few that she welcomes to the clan are provided with the finest foods, comforts, and luxuries. Her mate, Matarys, has rarely spoken to her since they left their Shadow home. Her decisions drove a wedge between the pair that time could never fully heal. Danaerys, her favorite daughter from their first clutch. In those days, Naerys had been fervent more than practical. She readily trained them to serve the gods, eager to please them. As time passed, and raising children of her own began to pain her, sorrow filled her. It was perhaps what broke the bond she shared with her mate, for he had found a way to move on. She searched far and wide for a daughter to raise as her own. For a daughter to replace the one she had banished to the gods, never to return. Her daughter does not know the truth. No others remain in the clan, besides Matarys, who know the truth. Naerys' benevolence served one purpose, and one purpose only. A display of wealth and power. She was able to obtain rare goods, fickle familiars. It was a light sprite that sent many away. Naerys had pushed the others hard, drove them to exhaustion to raise the funds needed to woo the familiar to their lair. The others whisper, even those new to the clan. Whispers of resentment at the cost to the lair; whispers that Naerys sees all as a means to an end. They whisper, but she doesn't hear. |
