Aodh was a member of an old, venerable clan in the Arcane domain. While he enjoyed his clan mates, he always felt the draw to search for his charge. It wasn't until he was sent as an envoy to a newly formed clan in the Lightweaver's Domain that he met Orchidae. From the moment he laid eyed on her, he knew he had found the dragon he was to protect. As they began to get to know one another, Aodh and Orchidae found that they had much in common, resulting in him eventually bending his knee and asking for her hand. The two were soon working to grow the young clan. While many of their children went to serve directly under the Lightweaver or to assist other clans, one, Zelda, remained behind to take over running the clan. Aodh is very proud of his daughter and while the two of them share a fairly close relationship they often due not see each other very often due to Zelda's duties. Still, Aodh does various odd jobs around the clan to help out both his wife and daughter.

When he found out that his daughter had found her charge, he began to spend more time with Link, learning more about him to ensure that his daughter would be in good hands. This meant that he was often found with the warriors, picking up some skill in the field although not as much as other members of the clan. He dislikes fighting unless it is to protect his charge, but he is not against helping younger members grow, helping to train them to fulfill their goals.

Aodh normally comes across as stern to dragons who don't know him, but he can be quite playful around dragons which he known better. Patient to a fault, Aodh rarely loses his temper and treats everything like a joke. Should a dragon actually manage to anger him, though, his temper can be quite fearsome. He hopes to one day settle down with Orchidae and let Zelda take over running the clan so he can spend more time with his family.

Pronounced EE/AY, Aodh is from the old Irish name Áed, which meant "fire". This was a very popular name in early Ireland, being borne by numerous figures in mythology and several high kings.

Writing:
Aodh looked down at the clutch of eggs before him. This was far from his first nest but it was his first with his consort, Orchidae.
"What do you think?" Her voice broke the silence, soft and measured. Glancing up, he smiled, moving over to her side.
"I think they look like they'll be just as lovely as their mother. Or as handsome as their father, depending." He grinned as she turned pinker than usual, bending over to wrap awing around her supportively. "You should take a break. I can watch them while you get a little rest." Between her duties as the clan leader and taking care of their nest, he knew she had to be stretched thin. It showed in the slight sag of her wings as she stood there, in the slower responses.
"Are you sure? What if something goes wrong. What if-"
"I can handle it," he reassured her. "It's not like you'll be gone; I can always get you if the lair suddenly catches on fire." That got a small smile from her, exhaustion now more evident. "Go to sleep. I'll wake you up in the morning for the meeting." She nodded in response, relief etched across her features.
"Very well." Starting for the entrance to the sleeping quarters, she smiled back over at him. "Thank you."
"Of course. Oh, what's orange and sounds like a parrot? A carrot," Aodh chortled, practically able to see his consort's eye roll through her head.
Even if he couldn't actually see it, he could hear the small smile in her voice as she replied, "You're terrible."
"Ah, but it made you smile, so that's all I needed," he called after her before settling down next to the eggs. "Did I ever tell you the one about..."
