Penumbra Sphinx
Penumbra Sphinxes, as well as Sphinxes in general, need more lore to build onto them. Because of this, the following is mostly headcanon until stated otherwise.
Penumbra Sphinxes are among the more sociable sphinxes, often trying to live up to their Divine kin. They'll often catalogue things, and even drakes, they deem worthy of their time, so long as said drake or object appears to have great value. Their desire to stand alongside their Divine counterparts as equals often leads to overly stringent, if not outright snappish, retorts from the Penumbra Sphinx in question. They are that glimmering light dancing around the edge of the Divine Sphinxes, after all, at least in their eyes. They often judge a questing drake, Sphinx, or Kitsune before they even present a riddle, and tend to decide how difficult they'll be by what they see alone. It is often wise for those seeking companionship with a Penumbra Sphinx to simply not bring up Divine Sphinxes unless the Penumbra Sphinx spoke of it first, and even then only to agree with what the Sphinx has to say.

You approach the abandoned home carefully, dodging around many kitsune and the occasional sphinx alike. You'd heard rumors of this Penumbra Sphinx, twisting about a Tigerblood Wraith Yako more often than not, always with a few extra quills and some ink to write. How she seems to summon all that stuff, no one knows. You even heard that she can teleport! Then again, this temple is full of rumors, what with all the chatty Festival Shiro about. Your racing thoughts stop, however, when you spot her. She has a long scroll trailing down towards the door, quills floating about her as she tries not to tie herself in frustrated knots, very much like a Spiral would back in Sornieth. She stops her muttering about some malevolent Sphinxes spotted just outside the Temple's walls when you give a gentle rap on the door.
"Oh? And you are? Well, doesn't matter if you're visiting or not. Best not to stick around too long here. Get on with it then. Another Sphinx outside the walls? Perhaps a new one wanting to move in here? Or maybe one pairing up with a Kitsune you'd like to have added to the census? Well don't just stand there staring, hand that parchment over and start explaining."
As she holds up the slip of parchment, which you don't even remember handing over just yet, you can't help but wonder if some of those rumors about her are true. Perhaps, somehow, this Sphinx is more than she seems. You can't help but eye her list as she asks you her questions, scratching away at the slip to eventually add to her Sphinx Census.
"We may live in Remnant with our feline cousins, but that doesn't mean we'll automatically treat them poorly for our differences. Remember, this census is not just to keep track of 'enemies' as some may put it. It's to ensure we know which Sphinxes share the land of the Shattered Temple with us, as well as those marked as our neighbors. Do treat them with kindness where you can. -Reiko"

- Another little glitch in the system
- Just appeared one day
- Lots of theories on how she got to the Archivists, but none are confirmed since she slept through it
- Just poof
- Woke up in Sprite's den and just vibed
- The two just kind of hang around, with Raine grabbing popcorn whenever drama starts
- Eventually saw Akemi visit from Remnant and decided she wanted to check it out
- Sprite went with her
- Deviated from their tour guides and got lost because of some Malicious Yako
- 100% panicked when Sprite changed
- Stayed by his side the entire time, unaware she was changing too
- Wandered with him when he could travel again, exploring the land
- Eventually found Akemi's home with Sprite
- Discovered he'd become a Tigerblood Kitsune (2 tails)
- Was even more horrified when she was told she was a sphinx, a common enemy of the kitsune
- Stubbornly remained by his side claiming she was a very small sphinx
- Paired up with Sprite to help the kitsune under Reiko
- Feels at home with the chaos magic too
- Travels with any non-kit kids back to Sornieth so they don't change like she and Sprite did
- Currently keeps a census of the sphinxes under Reiko
- Also keeps track of local sphinxes that seem to not cause too much trouble, but are still just... there
- Was given a scroll as a gift from Reiko one day for serving the temple well and wound up becoming more pipe-like in nature
- Spends free time just vibing with the pipe foxes while her partner takes care of the kitsune census
