______ Saeed was the first of the representatives to walk into Sornieth. He and the others weren’t ‘invited’ by Trick, but entered the portal willingly, traveled the Veil consciously, and arrived at the other side with all of their memories intact. Saeed quickly established the Council, with more representatives entering over time. Despite being seemingly stuck, all representatives came to the conclusion that the loop needs to continue, something spearheaded by Saeed himself, who finds this temporal and spatial anomaly way too interesting to destroy.

______ Saeed was once only a butterfly, infused with strong waves of arcane energy while still in his chrysalis. This changed him tremendously. He did not expect to change once more after entering Sornieth, where his body and mind morphed to be more dragon-like. He is now almost unrecognizable from where he once began. This doesn’t scare him however, he embraces the changes he has gone through, and is endlessly curious about the wonders of the world around him. Even if that world is inherently anomalous, even if he cannot ever get out again.

an official Magic Monarch

Subspecies Background
Everyone knows how the Arcanist came to be -- born from the immense arcane energy released in a giant magical reactor explosion. For a long time it was believed that all life had been extinguished during the great blast, but recently it has come to light that this is not completely true. There remain a scant few organisms who survived and whose exposure to the released energy have granted them near-immortality, allowing to remain living for millennia. Many of these organisms were butterflies, who, protected in their chrysalises, were better able to withstand the destructive force of the detonation.

Magic Monarchs are among those butterflies who survived. Their exposure to such a great amount of magic during their metamorphosis, an extremely crucial time of their development, affected them fundamentally. They became imbued with arcane energy, which manifested in their curious pinkish-purplish coloring making them stand out from other, normal butterflies. This energy also granted them near-immortality, allowing them to survive from the time of the explosion millennia ago until now.

The great reactor explosion did not just affect the organisms living there at that time, however. It also created a much more long-term effect, instilling deep within the soil great amounts of magical energy, affecting the development of dragons who are hatched there even today. The effect of the energy on these dragons has yet been fully determined, but it seems that they too have a slightly expanded life span.

In general, all Magic Monarchs are extremely playful and curious. They love to flit around, spreading magical sparkles wherever they go, much in the same manner as butterflies spread pollen. They are attracted to magical dragons and objects and are therefore more commonly found in the Arcane domain, though frequently they also venture to other lands to spread the joy of magic there. For some reason, they also seem quite attracted to flowers and love to hoard them and weave them into the dens they create from tree sap and magic.

Normal Subtype
These are the most common Magic Monarchs one would see flying around. Most of them are born where the explosion that caused the Arcanist’s birth occurred, where magic has seeped deep into the ground, though some of them are offspring of the original surviving Monarchs, called Miracles. Due to the unpredictable nature of magic, each dragon has a different level of affinity for the arcane arts, which is evident in the varying amounts of pink and purple that can be found in their coloring.
