The Barghests and witches had never taken kindly to one another. Despite the witch magic at the center of the Barghest curse, most witches still saw the creatures as beastial abominations created by an outcast of their kind. Childeaters, the Witchborne had called them, and it was taboo to associate with such creatures. Yet, some witches were still tempted. The magic, the curse of the Barghest intertwined so easily with their own magic. . . the beasts serving as a reservoir of power that was irresistible to those who felt they were strong enough to control it. Iqariel, of course, was one such witch. She had spent years deeply enthralled by the dark, forbidden magic that came so naturally to her. She cultivated her magecraft meticulously and she attempted many times to summon familiars and lesser demons to her side. Yet always, the Barghest’s curse interested her above all else. She sought to create such creatures. . . but when she finally uncovered the cost of such a spell capable of being warped and passed over generations, she knew it would not come without great sacrifice. Instead, Iqariel bound the first beast she captured to her and with its essence, she breathed life into the tattered wicker dolls that she wove. It was these that she called her children, Barghests who inherited much more witch magic than their curses would have otherwise bestowed.

When they sleep, they dream of rifling through boxes and crates, barrels and bags. When they wake, they daydream of a small foxlike creature made of sticks and wicker. Sometimes they find a shop with all sorts of baubles for sale, run by a pair of brothers with toothy smiles and shining eyes. Rarely, some of those baubles find their way into the satchels of drakes unaware, taken off to give those who search the help they seek...

Lore Ideas:
- Thirdborn of Iqariel
- Powerful spellcaster, despite not being a Witchborne, former or otherwise
- Name means "summer's end"
- Left his mother with his brother after taking the shortest to come about among the dolls
- Couldn't convince his sister to join them
- Left together to wander the land, hoping to learn more of their history
- Helped older brother discover more about their innate ability to find herbs
- Discovered he was better at finding poisons
- When not under the influence of the full moon, the two test each other with what cures what
- Can almost never be found apart
- Were spotted by ranging Ophanim in the Wispwillow Grove, gathering ingredients
- I mean how were they supposed to know two foxes gathering herbs looked suspicious
- Masqueraded as regular Imperials when questioned, but were brought back anyways
- Zerah saw the two and immediately was drawn to them
- Turns out they were his descendants
- In typical Zerah fashion by this point, the two brothers were kept away from the other Barghests
- Was more careful this time, leaving them with Noya during the full moon
- Upon showing he could keep them from devouring everything local dreamers dreamt, convinced the Archivists to let the brothers practice their craft
- Now runs a shop with his brother, providing herbs for brewing classes, recipes for passing potionmakers, and potions for the common drake
- Has agreed to be guarded on full moons to keep locals safe
- Is the troublemaker of the two brothers
- Has a shady backroom shop selling poisons
- Unaware his brother has a side business of his own selling cures to his poisons
- Can be approached by students for minor poisons so long as they aren't deadly
