Mountain banshee, or ikran, are large, dragon-like aerial predators that are native to Pandora. They can be found roosting on the various cliff sides on the Hallelujah Mountains. The ikran will only bond with one Na'vi in its lifetime. The Na'vi believe that the ikran itself chooses the warrior. While most fly away when approached, the one who has chosen the warrior first shows aggression and then tries to throw the warrior off or just kill them at all costs. If both coincide, the warrior must connect their neural queue with that of the animal and thus perform Tsaheylu, the bond. Once the bond is formed, the rider and ikran take their first flight together, sealing and solidifying their bond. This ritual is known as Iknimaya.
