"Hart, focus,"

"'Focus' is the meaning of my name!"

And yet, as the three Wildclaws sprinted after the trespassing centaur, Hart proved that he could not run and talk at the same time. A tree's root snuck up from nowhere and tripped him, making him topple like a stone. Poyo fell over him, unable to stop or avoid him.

Blitzshadow snarled in irritation and turned back, allowing the centaur to bound off into the woods. He lowered his head to Hart's as the other two tried to untangle themselves from one another.

"Your name means focus, does it?"

"I swear that root wasn't there a second ago."

Poyo snapped at his neck and stepped on him as he stood. Hart harrumphed, but didn't complain and stood after Poyo removed his weight. He shook some dirt from his plumage and sniffed nonchalantly. "We still chased him off!"

Their leader bared his teeth and Hart shrank back. "Go find him on your own and make sure he ran out of our territory. Don't come back until after dusk!" he demanded, shunting his shoulder into Hart's side. Hart complained the entire time Blitzshadow chased him off but still did as he was told.

He looked at it not as a chore, but as the perfect opportunity to get out of the rest of the daily duties.

"You win again, Hart. You win again." He grinned.

HISTORY

There was no Hart until there was the Ivory Gardens. At least, that's how he sees it. Before he found them, he was wandering life without a real cause or purpose, merely drifting with the breeze and letting it take him where it would.

Then, much like his best friend Poyo, he fell into the Ivory Gardens by happenstance. He'd found himself wandering Nature territory and had happened upon their home. They welcomed him with open wings and even offered him a permanent place among them. He had sat on the offer for ages, staying only as a temporary guest until Poyo came. They hit it off quickly, even if the other Wildclaw wasn't very smart.

When Poyo decided he was going to stay, Hart decided why not? He finally told Vanadevi and Vanaspati that he was going to stay. He found a place with Blitzshadow and Poyo, training to become the muscle for the group, holding off threats and the like.

It was on one of his first missions post-training with Blitzshadow that he met Khu'wei.

She was with another dragon, her mate, but his heart was hers from the moment he'd seen her. Always a confident and forward dragon, he approached and befriended them, then spent a few days learning about them. His mission was completely forgotten (he was later punished for that) but he came back with two new recruits.

He does his best not to make Khu'wei's mate angry and never outright tries to convince her to leave him, but they are both fully aware of his feelings for her. When Blitzshadow and his mate decided to take a group of dragons back to the Tangled Wood in order to make more room in the Gardens, he only went because Khu'wei and her mate did. Poyo followed him.

Now, finally, Sha'ktil-ar has accepted him into their fold. They are a trio now, fighting side by side. He still spends a lot of time with Poyo, but the three of them are together, sharing a nest and a lair. He prefers the company of Khu'wei, but Sha'ktil-ar has his own charms and they've grown closer ever since Hart had thrown himself on the chopping block to save Sha'ktil-ar's life.

While Khu'wei and Sha'ktil-ar are away on their "safari hunts", he hangs back and cooks the meals for the dragons. They all still go on hunts together, of course, but he's not really into the whole trophy thing. When he hunts, he hunts for food, and then he comes back and makes dinner for the whole resort!

He's . . . currently looking for some kitchen staff to help him out.

PERSONALITY

It seemed like Hart had been born to the wrong Flight. Even as a hatchling he'd always been optimistic and cheerful, unfettered by anything going on around him. He wears his emotions on his sleeves, as it were, and usually speaks his mind. However, he knows there's a time and a place for everything and can practice some self-control.

He makes friends easily and likes to surround himself with like-minded individuals. The only real reason he become a warrior is that he's a Wildclaw, and just inherently good at it. He gains no real pleasure from beating things up, but it gives him something to do.

And, of course, it impresses his crush who is all about beating things up.

If you need to be cheered up, Hart is the dragon for the job. He chooses humor as a coping mechanism and is usually pretty good at making dragons laugh, or lightening a mood. Even if it means physical humor, he'll do whatever it takes to make others happy. He's extremely loyal and will not hesitate to put himself in harm to save another.
