Elara came from the beastclans - from the Serthis, if one can believe it. Certain dragons of the Hull certainly don't, but Nephtys testifies to having paid an exorbitant sum to bring this bright-eyed dame away from her serpentine masters. Masters - heh! Nephtys hisses at the thought, though few can tell whether it's in disgust or amusement. Elara is helpful, charming, and carefree. She assists Nephtys with her records, Vruthold with her potions, Column with his garden-tending duties, and Corinna with her spinning - but where the masters Zyfernon or Alcyonae are, she is not. Loquaesa hums if ever asked, and idly admits that, no, she can't recall ever meeting this particular member of her crew. The captain, however, seems unbothered by it. Because her presence is such a boon, the other members of the crew can't help but assist when she needs a favor in turn. Space in Echindna's garden to grow a strange herb, an hour's worth of brewing in Yzmah's cauldron, a bit of that spare acid Jynnajo left lying about... Sometimes, for Lailyn to please read this book, or for Pacorro to please play this song. The favors she asks are such little things, certainly harmless, and so Elara always gets what she asks for. She pays and asks for so many favors, in fact, that it's not at all unusual to see her tucking away a gift that no one in the Hull can recall giving her. Elara is, beyond her generosity, terribly vain. Oh, but not in the way of ribbons and jewels (not entirely, at least!) but in the burn of taxed muscles and the pride in a task efficiently completed. Polished armor is her ballgown of choice, and candles kept alight by her sheer magical skill serve as something to be very smug about. Like many of the dragons in the Hull, she is no stranger to a fight - although, sometimes, her strategy is questionable. There have been injuries she could have prevented... But her mind is shrewd and her claws carry an arcane bite that is nothing any foe will sneeze at. The fierce pirate keeps their bunk; that's the way of the Hull. Ayumra craves Elara's presence, and consults her frequently, their pearls often nested together in silk and velvet whilst the two pearlcatchers duck their heads together and murmur fervently. At times Elara holds aloft her precious orb, held nearly as dear as her pearl, and Ayumra will gaze upon its sheen like a moth enraptured by the reflection of flickering candlelight. Elara has a silver tongue when properly motivated, and is known to consort with beastclans if the Hull flies near a known territory. She often returns with a corpse - oh, usually a prey animal. |
