She was one of the earliest ones to come to the sunken Hull, though she was also quiet and made little enough easy sense that few, even among the shadows, took much note of her. But she was there. She watched. She listened. She strayed often to the water at the edges of the Tidelord's domain to dip her wings there. She dove as deep and flew as high as lungs would allow. Then, one day, she flew higher. |

So great is her power, that it bursts and bubbles within the frail shell of her pearl, and cracks open her veins to spill into the world. Some whisper, fearfully, that hers is a curse which falls upon a Shadow dragon who dares fly too close to the sun. Whatever the case, Ayumra is constantly consumed in maps of the stars and the waves. However she came by her magic, it allows her to traverse the thinnest reaches of atmosphere and the deepest blackness of the ocean. She never feels cold, and is often in danger of overheating. When she is not perusing the shelves of Lailyn and searching under the snakes of Nephtys, or else locked up in her own cramped cabin scrying the seething power within her pearl, she is urging Pacorro to fill the Engine with new Song, and drive the Hull ever onwards. Ayumra answers only to the will of the Captain, and even then frequently seeks to overturn Loquaesa's ruling. The seer experiences manic episodes, prone to fits of exuberance and driving every member of the Hull to point the prow in seemingly random directions and strain the Engine of Song to its limits. Loquaesa seems to be the only one who can curb Ayumra's fits without suffering the furious backlash. Whatever power or curse oozes from the cracks in her scales cannot drive her to attack the Captain (though the delicate Pearlcatcher is little physical threat to anyone). A terrible oozing thing may be within her - but when Loquaesa's voice thunders across the deck to shake her from her mania, Ayumra's eyes fill with fear. |
