Maniae is a fully trained warrior, who’s currently taken up the position as a clan leader apprentice. This is a new development, and something that’s been in the works for a few years. Maniae has two fully developed personalities, though the two of them go by the same name and usually speak in synch, sometimes finishing each others sentences. They live with their father Dissection, the current clan leader. Maniae never met their mother, as she left just as they hatched.

A normal day for Maniae is generally the same as for their father. Ever since expressing interest of becoming leader one day, their father had taken it upon himself to teach them what he does as a leader. Maniae already knows they would not rule in the way their father does, and have already made a few plans and changes they plan on implementing when they take over.

During the days Maniae is forced to act nice towards Daphne, though they despise the mirror. In Maniae’s opinion, Daphne has too much power, and they’ve contemplated poisoning her several times. They are however persuaded to wait by their inofficial mentor, Yachil, acknowledging that she has her uses. While Maniae knows very little about Yachil before he joined the clan, they trust him as his goals and ambitions closely align with their own. However, this close alignment also makes him a threat, so in all probability they’ll attempt to kill him once they take power of the clan.

On the days when Maniae doesn’t tag along with their father, they usually head over to the training grounds. There’s little the current trainer Murphy can do for them anymore, as they’ve surpassed him in skill, but Maniae knows they need the continuous training to keep their skill. Some days they spar with Agrius, the first in command of the warriors, or glorified guards as Maniae likes to think of them. Maniae despises the mirror but has come to acknowledge their skill as warrior, and knows intimately why their father had appointed her in the role.
After the day’s work Maniae usually meets up with their only friend, or perhaps confidante would be the correct term. The two talk about the day in the communal social dwelling, before heading off into the shadows and discussing the future, planning for Maniae’s eventual takeover.

For some reason Maniae has found that they have an unusual amount of magic to draw upon, something they’ve theorized is because of their close relation to the Plaguebringer. This extra magic makes her interesting to the clans alchemists, Deimos and Hemithea, but Maniae would never let them examine them. Because of the magic Maniae needs notably less sleep than other dragons, and they use this to their advantage.

Deep in the middle of the night they make their way to the brewmaster Yachil’s dwelling, and the two plot deep into the night. The shifty mirror had made his interest in Maniae known early on, and have helped them with the main part of their plans. They have no clue why he is helping, but have concluded that it’s best to avoid questioning as it usually makes the older mirror unreasonable angry and hard to deal with. Maniae has therefore concluded that they’re going to continue to use him, as long as he is useful.

It took a while for Maniae to grow into the dragon they are today. As soon as they hatched, they knew they were different. None of the other dragons in the clan had two heads, two conciousnesses, and no one else seemed to have the same stamina as them. During their first year or so the whispers were loud and clear; the appearance of Maniae had driven away their mother, Wanheda, and they were a bad omen.

Their father Dissection always made it clear that they were not to blame for it, always cushioning the impact, but his words could only do so much. Little by little, Maniae grew resentful, and angry. When Rill hatched, Maniae thought that they were the future of every dragon, as the apparent “fluke” had happened again. They were quick to welcome Rill into their embrace, and this was helped by the close relationship Rill’s father and their own had. Rill and Maniae seemed to be the exceptions though, not the rule, as mirrors were continuously being hatched.

Though they were similar in looks, Rill and Maniae were not very similar when it came to their outlook on things. Despite this, Maniae managed to manipulate and convince Rill of their superiority and that Maniae were right in most things. Maniae knows that Rill is loyal, but sometimes ponders this as, by all means, she shouldn’t be.

Early on, the mirror known as Yachil started to make his presence known in their daily life. At first they found this irritating, but soon they learned to listen to his words. They found that he was much like themselves, angry, ambitious and interested in a radical change of the clan. Uniting in this, they started to plot the downfall of Dissection. Maniae had been opposed to the death of their father in the beginning, but through long talks with Yachil had come to see the necessity of it. They are no longer against it, but wouldn’t necessarily say they were looking forward to it.

As soon as they were old enough, Dissection had made the choice to make them train with Murphy. Dissection assumed, and rightly so, that they would need the ability to defend themselves. Maniae managed to convince Rill to join them, and the two trained side by side, sometimes joined by Agrius who were a few years older.

Since the three were somewhat close in age they trained together for several years, but Maniae never got attached to Agrius. They found the mirror to be too pure of heart, too unwavering. They would never be able to manipulate her in the ways that mattered, and therefore she served no use to them. Despite their feelings, they treated Agrius much in the same way as Rill, and to their knowledge Agrius therefore sees them as friends.

The same thing could be said about the rest of the clan. Maniae makes sure to always be polite and civil, occasionally turning on their charm if needed. In order for their plan to work, the clan cannot hate them.

At least, not yet.

"The Maniae /ˈmeɪni.iː/ (singular: Mania Μανία /ˈmeɪniə/), in ancient Greek religion,
are a spirit or group of spirits personifying insanity, madness, and crazed frenzy. They
operate closely with Lyssa, the spirit of mad rage, frenzy, and rabies; and, like Lyssa,
are presumed to be daughters of Nyx. They are also associated with the Erinyes, the
three fearsome goddesses of vengeance."

"Ok, so I had a hard time choosing between Maniae and Rill, both such gorgeous plague-themed Abbes~ I think the combination of the blood sarcophagus and the coral fangs genes is so utterly fantastic though ;n ; Perhaps not a mirror, but fits into your lair just as perfectly! Love those incredibly numerous glowing eyes too!"
