Generation 3 I am a Trapped Pearl! These dragons are secret royalty-- descendants of the petty tyrant Konungur and his queen-consort Holden. Their paths are ever at odds; Konungur seeks to have Pearlcatcher children to steal their pearls. He does this so that he can use them as pawns to expand his empire while retaining complete control. Holden, on the other hand, has every nest smuggled from the castle and replaced with dead eggs, buying their freedom at the cost of her own happiness. Konungur had tried to find his grandson's hatchlings, but Maz and Mache had taken precautions and hidden their clutch away, much like queen-consort Holden does. Maz's mother, Helena, told him of the way that they snuck heirs out of the palace. His own father, Morri, smuggled the eggs to a nurse who would take care of the hatchlings until they came of age. Maz's children were born safely and hidden away until they were old enough to defend their own pearls. For many moons, they did not know of their heritage. But in late adolescence they were told so that they could protect themselves.

Ekrem wasn't able to have much contact with his parents so that a connection between them would not be discovered. He met with Maz and Mache, usually seperately, on the rare occassion when they allowed themselves to seek him out. He had inherited his parents' runes, but instead of a brilliant orange like his father, Ekrem's were a deep garnet (almost blood colored) red, closer to his mother's. From adolescence he's been warned to stay away from Konungur and to safeguard his pearl so that the mad king could not use it for his own designs. Sometimes Ekrem had visions of this power-mad king and a sorrowful queen who seemed so lonely. He didn't truly understand these visions, but he knew that this must relate to what his father had warned him of.

Ekrem had once been companion to a Mirror named Opha and they'd had a child together. A beautiful Pearlcatcher boy. Fearing his great-grandfather's desire to take the most precious pearl, Ekrem made the hard decision to let an adoptive family raise his child. If Konugur was never made wise to this child's existence, perhaps he'd never be in danger. However, he and Opha couldn't stay together after tearing their family apart.

Ekrem heard news of his father's newest children. He worried for the poor Fae, as well as for his mother, Mache, whose position was not as sure as it once was.
