Biography
Mache was brought into the BlackIce clan by the king himself. Her friends often spoke fondly of her, admiring her deep runes and quiet behavior. She usually stuck to the back of the crowd, quiet and soft, and completely unrecognizable.
The day the king found her was possibly her worst beforehand. She had lost her familiar, and lost her family. Her old clan, warring with the enemy on their borders, had lost vital ground. Ground her family rested on.
She had been out for errands, returning to a broken hollow with blood stains and a burning pile of something she could no longer recognize.
So she had ran, hiding deep in the icefields, for what she thought would be the rest of her painfully short life. What proved her wrong was a hunting party, finding her cold and shivering deep in her ice hole. They warmed her up enough to walk, the largest of the pack carrying her back to their clan. A shining kingdom, rich with icy jewels.
She had stayed in the royal infirmary, welcomed by the king not only for her striking appearance, but her element. If she were anything but ice or shadow, she'd be withering away in a common hobble, or back in her hole of freezing ice. Thankfully, she never learned this...
A few months after her arrival, she met the youngest descendant of the kind king. A striking Pearlcatcher with glistening runes, a binding cover over his eyes and willow-the-wisp hovering about him. She had fallen in love immediately.
The king took notice, allowing the two to court and marry. Maz, her mate, is so quiet and calm. He's like her, her other half, her perfect half. She loves him with all her heart, and she believes he does the same.
But there are days he hesitates...

I think she’d find a friend in Hadrian!
Hadrian was formerly a soldier fighting for ice in the war against fire (haven’t read FR lore in awhile, but I’m pretty sure there’s a battle going on involving banescales + gaolers ?). He was captured by the fire flight and freed by the Serpentine Alliance under the condition he swore loyalty to them.
Since then, he’s held a pretty heavy grudge against fire clans and is involved in a plot by the Serpentine Alliance to take down the Ambassadors of Flame (basically a civil war occurred in the original clan and half of them went to join the fire flight and the other half are arcane and very bitter).
He too is somewhat sensitive, though he tends to show this by being very focused on his goals and aggressive. Despite this, I imagine he’d know what Mache is going through and try to be soft around her. They live a distance away, and I imagine them as being penpals! They probably tend to talk about their own trauma and difficulties with each other in order to work through it and know they’re not alone.
I see she joined an ice clan, so perhaps the clan was familiar with Hadrian’s regiment and that’s how they got in touch?
