Saudade

I don't know how I came to be here. I feel like I'm missing something. Somthing important.

The first memory I have is of a strange dragon with swirling green eyes. He stood above me as I awoke from what felt like a dead sleep. He spoke strangely and acted stranger still.

He told me the swamp was his home and now mine as well. His grin was very unsettling but I did not sense ill will from him. I have decided to trust him for now. This dragon named Wraith.

This body of mine feels weird. Like it is not in the correct shape. Looking in the murky water will sometimes frighten me as I do not expect the face I see.

Sometimes when somthing exciting things happens I will turn around to tell someone. There is never anyone there though. It confuses me each time as I don't know who I'm expecting.

I asked Wraith about it once. He told me he did not know anything about my past that I do not remember. So the key lies in the past I have forgotten.

With that in mind I have several times ventures to the edge of the swamp. Determine to step out into the world and reclaim this lost past of mine. I stop each time as a bone chilling fear will envelope me.

Wraith told me this swamp is safe. The he protects it and nothing can touche me here. For some reason that comforts me dearly. So I have decided. I'm not going to leave this swamp. I will live out the rest of my days here. Safe and never fearing what lays beyond it.

I doubt this nagging in the back of my mind will ever go away. This feeling that I am missing somthing. Each night as I lay asleep my dreams are of a black and red dragon that holds me safely in blunt talons. Every morning though I make myself forget. For those sweet dreams end in nightmares.
