Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this neat freak wandered a little too far from his home lair (570686, LabyrinthianLost), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but he would be very grateful!

Despite looking quite a bit more like his father, Wesley, Cenwyn was always a neat freak like his mother, Mehrgarh. He had no interest in dentistry - frankly, the idea of poking around in someone else's mouth was revolting on so, so many levels to him - but he did have a passion for cleaning, an obsession some called it. When he couldn't be found, his clanmates quickly learned that they could find him at the nearest mess, devoting all his energy to cleaning it up, to make it like it never was. Mehrgarh was infinitely proud of him for his diligence, and offered to teach him little tips and tricks she'd come to learn on her travels.

Cenwyn was relatively ambivalent to the dragons he shared a clan with, with one exception. He was incredibly jealous of his brother, Quigley. Quigley had interited the trait that qualified him as a clownpants, and with it he earned more attention from their mother. When he wandered off into the caves and came back with splotches across his body and wings bearing an entirely different pattern? Completely unquestioned. When he decided he wanted to perform where their mother had never felt the inclination to? He was encouraged! Cenwyn knew, as the days ticked by, that he'd never be able to show his brother up. And so, he decided to follow in his father's footsteps and leave the clan. He just needed a chance to prove that he could be something his mother would be proud of.

After a long flight and running into nothing, tired and having eaten all he initially packed, he finally stumbles on a settlement! There’s quite a few dragons living there, most seem too worried about their own lives to really notice Cenwyn as he lands in. It’s a semi-rundown, slightly seedy place. He can’t find any town center or sense of organization; nobody to go to for questions of where to stay for the night. Wandering through the roads— if you can even call them that— he notices old, dirty huts and houses. ‘How do dragons live like this?’ He wonders internally. Even though he looks around pretty late into the evening, he still runs into several dragons. While not exactly one good at reading others, Cenwyn can tell they’re… unhappy with where they are currently. He spots a very unique-looking Coatl from across the street. The blue in her wings is dull but still stands out in the low light. Not soon after, he notices another; an oil-colored Pearlcatcher with vibrant red fur. Well, he guesses it’s supposed to be vibrant. It looks dingy and unkempt. He side-eyes Cenwyn as he passes by.

After a while more of exhausting walking, Cenwyn finally finds quite a large building. Looks important. As he approaches, he can see the sign reads, “Landing: Inn and Nursery”. Weird two things to combine if you ask him. He only notices the bad, as he tends to do. Dirty walls, unswept floors, crooked painting, papers all over the front desk. If this is the lobby… what are the rooms like??

Wait, speaking of front desk, where’s the Inn owner? He’s not too late, is he? Cenwyn continues toward the desk, noticing more and more things he wishes he could clean. This isn’t exactly how he imagined his Big Adventure…
Before he can continue this thought, he hears shuffling from a curtain behind the desk. He’s about to investigate, when a pink and blue Coatl pops out, looking discombobulated: feathers pushed in all different directions, fur tousled, coattail draped awkwardly over his back.

"M-my—, ahem—, sorry Sir." He stammers. He regains his composure by straightening himself out to the best of his ability, fixing his coat and feathers. "The hatchlings can be unruly when they don’t want to go to bed. How can I help you tonight?"

Cenwyn goes on to explain he's looking for a room for the night. The Coatl nods and bends down, grabbing a quill and paper one of his claws and a small rudimentary key with his tail.

"Of course! I've never seen you around before, but we actually get wanderers quite often. I'm guessing that's your situation too?"

Cenwyn nods. The brief conversation ceases with the amiable coatl explaining the very lenient rules of the stay. Don't make too much noise, he's unavailable after moonhigh, and don't steal anything. That's it. No wonder this place is so rundown....

"I hope you enjoy your stay." He says, starting to turn back towards the curtain, before stopping himself, "—oh! And I'm Guidance. It's nice to meet you." He finishes with a tired smile, finally heading back through the tattered curtain.

After finding his way to his room, passing 4 presumably locked doors on the way, he happily collapse onto the dusty bed. He ignores the way the dirt feels in his fur, he'll worry about that later. Sleep is all that matters right now.

He doesn't plan on spending much time in the morning, but as he picked up his bag and dusted himself off, every little dirty thing in the room screamed out to him. .... He can't leave it like this.

That room is spotless as he leaves. He wishes he could do more... but he shouldn't waste much more time. There's nothing for him here. As he heads out through the main lobby, he hoped to see Guidance again, but he was probably preoccupied with hatchlings, so he just leaves... taking off from that muddy coastal settlement without any trace besides a cleaned room. Hopefully something more eventful happens soon...

Cenwyn had never seen such chaos. The... living spaces were of all shapes and sizes, from huts to caves to holes in the ground. He NEEDED neat.

Just as he was writing his diary, an orange coatl that looked like a mango barreled into him, spilling the familiars in his arms. A Runescar Lynx immediately started clawing at Cenwyn's face, hissing and screeching on the top of its lungs. The coatl rushed to gather his pets and bowed deeply to Cenwyn. "So so sorry, Lixie here can be a bit of a menace sometimes.... I assure you she's sweet, just give her some fire flowers to chew on and she'll be as gentle as a cerdae... would you like to come in my store? I've got some Amaranth moths-"

Cenwyn halted his rambling. His head had started to ache. He massaged his temples whilst saying "That's alright. Please leave me."

The coatl scrambled off with an apologetic look. Cenwyn KNEW he had to leave, this place was getting on his nerves.
