Biography

Why isn't it called Fortnight of the Nocturne? - April Fools 2022
Day 6 of Mistral Meals wrote:

“Come on and give Chocolate Chance a try!” a tundra with a jester’s cap on was calling out from a booth, “Will you love it? Hate it? Feel like the taste isn’t bad but weirdly you don’t hate it? Anything is possible!”

In the front of the booth was a table with what looked like a massive assorted chocolate box on it, as well as a couple smaller versions around it. While several spaces in each box were by now empty, a nocturne decked in green was going around and filling the gaps in with fresh chocolate morsels, seemingly at random.

During the Jamboree planning stage, Ursus was delighted to be paired up with a fellow chocolatier, but Chevalier was a bit mortified at the idea the other dragon was dead set on doing, which was basically a chocolate blind box of horror.

Well…”horror” might be exaggerating things a bit, but Chevalier loved high quality foods and he couldn’t imagine intentionally making something that tasted horrible. And it wasn’t even a matter of Ursus being a bad chef…he’d sampled the results of the tundra’s skills and they were top notch.

“Don’t fret about it too much, Chevi!” Ursus told him while they were brainstorming flavor combinations (Chevalier hadn’t decided yet if he liked or disliked the nickname yet), “It’s not like we’d be lying about what we’re selling, which would be mean-spirited, but sometimes there’s a lot of fun in the unexpected and surprises, you know?”

Chevalier was still dubious about the idea, up until their first set of customers, and he couldn’t help but hide a grin as a pair of hatchling siblings laughed through getting a bon-bon with hazelnut-pear filling and a white chocolate covered scotch egg. By the end of the first day, he was fully enjoying himself.Even if they did get a customer who ended up being truely upset at their draw, either boothrunner was happy to swap it out for something more normal.

Catching a snapper looking indecisive of which box to choose from, he fluttered over to explain while Urus was distracted trying to coax a large group of Shadow dragons over.

“It’s a tough call when you don’t know what you’re going to get, isn’t it?” the nocturne asked, before pointing to the largest assortment, “That one’s a free-for-all. You could get literally anything if you want to take the risk. But if you’re not feeling that adventurous, the smaller boxes focus on specific food types. You could still end up with regular chocolate or an Ursus Special, but for example if you’re allergic to bugs, you can go for one of the meat, plant or seafood boxes and not have to worry about getting a honeybee toffee.”
