——In the beginning, there was nothing.

——Simply the Void, the unthinking cosmic presence. Beyond time or space, before all and after the end of everything, it Was. It Was, and it dreamed.

——Reality willed itself out of the Void, spinning and swirling and creating. Reality gave itself form, built on and with the Void itself. As things came to be -- matter, light, the chemical elements -- entities embodying each of these things sprang up. These entities were the first beings to exist, unbound from time and space.

——Their genesis was the shift that started the avalanche.

——Like a crack through glass, reality splintered through the Void, spiderwebbing out infinitely in all directions. The Original Ones -- Change, the Unknown, Strife, Deceit, and Cycles -- molded it, guided it, and brought the universe into being.

——And in one small corner of reality, one planet among many formed with a spark inside. A spark inside, and an antithesis without.
