Biography
Banshee
Disgraced || Independent || Fighter Former House leader turned Exiled and Houseless |
Banshee had grown up yearning to lead a house. Every day the wildclaw would train and work to become stronger so that she might one day lead a house of dancers. In her birth clan, she was unmatched—stronger and faster than other dragons her age. Her future had been bright and the dream of leading a house of Blood Moon Dancers was in her grasp. The young dragon left to fend for herself while she was still quite young in hopes of proving herself as she searched for a place to make a home for herself and future dancers. It was a tough road but Banshee never gave up and fought her way tooth and claw to get what she wanted. Sometimes, this even included other rival female wildclaws that wanted to grow a house themselves. Already, she was growing a reputation in her area for her skills. Shortly after settling down, she began to get dancers in search of a house to join. Many, Banshee turned away whether for being houseless—and thus suspect to abandoning her house—or for being unable to meet her high standards. Fighting to earn a place amongst her house's ranks was common place. Banshee trained them herself once they were accepted but that was only after she knew they held the potential to carry out the work that needed done. |
The wildclaw's house continued to rise higher in reputation. With powerful dancers, many wished to hire them for various tasks from spying to assassinations. A few times, Banshee even lead them into a war for a hefty sum. While deaths weren't unheard of, it was a rare occurrence despite their line of work. With sharp wits and powerful attacks that ranged from magic based to pure muscle, their targets were always made short work of before anyone knew a dancer had been there at all. Soon enough even clients outside their area were seeking them out—only wanting the best in exchange for the high price of what the deeds required. Failure hadn't been heard of in her house. Every dragon bathed in luxury from their earnings. Perhaps that was where the fall began. Banshee and her house had started to grow too confident, borderline arrogant in their size and power and made content with their wealth. Nothing was of want that they couldn't get. The best weapons, armor, and other such wishes and needs were always easily taken care of. The wildclaw never thought about the enemies she might've made in her rise to power or jealous rivals who might wish to overthrow her. The idea of anyone usurping her monopoly over the area amongst her subspecies was never a concern to her when she had everything. Those who'd tried previously had been swiftly dealt with, so why not others? |
But then her dancers began to disappear, picked off one by one. At first, she just made the excuse that their attackers were only trimming the fat and leaving the strongest behind... A favor to her and the rest of the members of her house. But the numbers continued to rack up. Banshee began to worry. Never before had they lost so many members and as the death count continued to rise, some preferred to leave and join other houses or turn houseless. And then the big attack came onto their home directly. With only her strongest and most loyal members left, they were greatly outnumbered by the other houses that had risen up to take her down. In the fight, Banshee could even see some of her former members joining in against their former allies. While she fought to her best ability, the wildclaw couldn't save her house. Her house was in ruins after the victors stole their shares of the spoils and returned to their own houses. |
Barely alive, Banshee got up and sought out the other surviving dancers. There weren't many but it was enough that they could possibly start again... Or that was her hope. Standing amidst the ruins of their house, her dancers called her weak and a disgrace for this failure. Banshee watched as they each turned their backs to her and left to seek new clans to live in or to hope another house would allow them to join. For a while, the wildclaw could only stare in shock while the dust continued to settle and the flames slowly died out. Eventually, she gathered what she could save and left as well. Keeping a low profile, Banshee did her best to make a living. Eventually she came across the Fortress of Bone in Earth and took refuge there for the time being. It wasn't the most well-run place and she was sure many of the members weren't the most trustworthy with their sketchy backgrounds but she didn't have many options. For the time being, she gathers her strength and takes the jobs she can get—including acting as a guard for this small fortress. One day perhaps she'll regain the glory she once held. |
