 Formely Sleot, Vitas was born in an ancient lair deep within the the Hellwell Undercroft, the home of the Adlucinatio Clan. His parents were Ophiuchus the Pearlcatcher, and Cassiopeia the Nocturne, both of the Shadow flight. They were both named for constellations, and the gods only know why they named him Sleot, but upon choosing to leave his birth clan and the Scarred Wasteland, he changed it to Vitas, which means "alive" or "life", a fitting name for a Plague-born drake.

Despite being surrounded by the shifting politics of the nomadic warrior clans, Vitas' birth clan was staunchly devoted to keeping the peace and working together in harmony. They accepted any and all newcomers, regardless of flight or breed, so long as the rules set down by the council of leaders were followed. Likewise, they encouraged young dragons to seek their own way, even if that meant leaving the clan. They would always be welcomed back home, should they choose to return.

These and other values shaped much of Vitas' upbringing. Flexibility, adaptability, and most importantly, the courage to admit when you are wrong; Vitas believes that these will be the true saviors of dragon-kind against the Shade, and against themselves. It might seem at odds with the savagery usually displayed by the children of the Plaguebringer, but as Vitas likes to say,

"There are many different ways to be strong, to survive. The true test of strength is the ability to laugh, love, and sing, no matter the circumstances."

As for him, Vitas decided that this message needed to be heard by all of dragon-kind, and so he has begun with the Starfall Isles, communicating these values through song. His impressive vocal range and moving lyrics have earned him the nickname, "The Voice", and he is rapidly developing into something of a celebrity among the younger dragons.
