Bellamy's parents were Phantomime of the Arcane flight, and Harlequin of the Earth flight, and he was born in an ancient lair hidden within Murkbarrow Close. Like his parents, he is a subspecies of Nocturne known as a Harlequin (for which his mother was named), and was born into the circus life, the Cirque de la Nuit circus life, to be specific. Though never really a part of any act, Bellamy was always in the shadows of the big top, watching. Learning. And waiting. Unlike the much more brightly coloured Circuslings, who love to be the center of attention at all times, Harlequins like Bellamy much prefer sitting on the sidelines, playing the part of the innocent spectator. Bellamy is soft-spoken and quiet, pleasant enough in manner, but somehow unnerving at the same time, though no one can quite put their finger on why. He has few friends, though he can always be found in a crowd, if you look hard enough. Attracted to the Starfall Isles by rumours of a new troupe looking for recruits, he ran into the Diva of Discord, Eris, also on route to the Star Wood Strand. She had heard the same whispers, and decided to see this fledgling circus for herself. Eris had plans of her own, plans to sabotage Jelionas' little show before it had even begun, and take over as ringmistress herself! She offered Bellamy employment on the spot as her assistant, seeing in the quiet Nocturne's midnight gaze a feral savagery more bone-chilling than any she had encountered, even in the Scarred Wasteland! The tantalizing promises of riches and glory didn't seem to move him, however. It wasn't until Eris began to speak of chaos and carnage that the feral glint in his eyes turned into a gleam, and the soft-spoken Nocturne seemed to transform before her very eyes. A vicious predator smiled back at her, showing razor sharp fangs, and said simply, "When do we start, boss?"

| Harlequins are known for their violent tendancies, despite their meek demeanor. They're a vicious predator who, were it not for their highly social nature, would spend all their energy hunting down and shredding other dragons. But they enjoy company and they're loyal to a fault. If you manage to befriend a Harlequin, you will end up with one of the best bodyguards this side of Sornieth can offer. |
